It was the Sportage Alpha variant that I saw that had a VIN stamp on left side of windshield.

I assume Alpha is only produced as CKD.

I read on some news site that Alsvin is currently not planning to do any localization of parts. Saying localization will only be done if very high demand is required. So, if CKD comes with all parts imported from China, it will have same interior quality?

That is why I have asked that kindly share that VIN plate so, we can decode it for our learning.. this will also tells us what letters are used for PKDM as WMI , first three places on 17 digits as well as the plant location code.

VIN plate is placed on driver side on dashboard approximately at location where glass meets the dashboard. Also on the door jamb on sticker. The WMI tells us where it is made. In case of the Alsvin on display on January 11th , it has a VIN directing towards China and that was all the issue when many dealers kept on saying its CKD and it was not actually. Problem was incorrect information shared by dealers.. VIN itself being on the vehicle was not the problem. Problem was the information on it.

On another note, I have not owned any chinese cars, but I did put on 255/40/19 Z china made tires on my car and they were unusable after 7 months, first time i thought maybe that company was bad and tried another chinese but same result, chinese tires cost almost 25% of korean tires so thats why I tried but never again, now I use some indonesian tires called achilies and are okish after 18 months.

i saw the video by tahir abbas dude , I dont know if the car was ckd or cbu. But the cars quality didnt look as good as the ones i saw in showroom.

There are always quality issues with chinese products. That is a fact. To offset that, pricing of Chinese products is so attractive that one ignores those issues. For example, Xiaomi flagship phones cost only half of Iphone or Samsung. JF-17 costs one third of F-16. But with Alsvin costing 85% of Yaris, people have got high expectations and hopes. I pray that they are not disappointed.

Price doesn’t seem to be bad but not good either considering we still don’t know how a Ckd alsvin will be.
Otherwise in terms of features and looks definitely it’s better then it’s competitors

At this point, we are working aggressively to launch as many new models as we can before the expiry of our greenfield period and after that, we will be continuously increasing production to meet the local demand.

That's more than convincing to me in terms of engine quality, take care of it and it will perform, just like any machine. Granted its LHD, but it has the same engine as RHD

Just checked out the alsvin at golf club, khi today. If it's ckd (as the changan ppl were saying), i think we have a winner on our hand. The test drive was to small in terms of distance to gauge the engine performance but interior quality was as gud as cbu. Plus the gear shift seemed to be more pronounced than cvt for obvious reasons but was much quicker than say city ivtec, which is the main competitor as yaris has cvt. Overall quality seemed pretty good and exterior was good on the eyes too.

it can be a fine car, most of them are not even 3 years old. But the price of alsvin is absolutely ridiculous, Any person who called indus and atlas "high priced" or "mafia" cannot say so anymore without calling changan a bigger opportunist and higher priced

ivtec is honda proprietery valve lift technology. And any automatic transmission is better than auto trannys in honda cars

Yes if Alsvin was 1/3rd the price of Yaris like JF-17 is 1/3rd the price of F-16, it would make more sense.

But with Alsvin costing 85% of Yaris, people have got high expectations and hopes.

You are wrong. The actual reason is we do not have 2.5 million to spend on potentially disposable products.
