@Storm. It is not binding to get your car insured in Pakistan. It is just leasing companies and banks who require you to get insurance as long as the car loan is not fully paid.
There is a third party insurance which one can get from the people sitting on the footpaths to avoid tickets. I remember that in 1986-87, I went to Liaqat Bagh Rawalpindi to get the insurance certificate from the roadside agents for just Rs 25. Once got a ticket from a cop for not having that petty piece of paper which is worthless, but mandatory due to some stupid legislation.
