Turbo Knocking issues are real and Atlas efforts to solve it is also very real... Honda will not let Atlas make it's hot selling product die without a struggle in 6th largest population auto market. Atlas and Honda are on it for almost a year now with firmware updates to fuel analysis...
Don't know it's from CRV or anything but the source reported it's under serious discussions as for being opted in PKDM Turbo. It's the same 1.5T bolt on earth dreams with slight modification to be better than before... Toyota also added vvti & dual vvti to same engine why can't Honda .
Why can't Honda do this little change to solve the problem and please customers more...
If the current turbo engine was to be problem free they would have used it in other products but after 2 years Honda realized to rectify and updated it to be more superior.
USDM faced knocking clattering sounds by the engine... And so all have complained about the turbo lag around the world . Honda have the trend to refresh it's product every 2 to 2.5 years whether with a facelift or with a all new model and the time is due for good.
To be precise it's called 240 Turbo and will be churning 193bhp & 240nm of torque with the same 1.5T helping turbo civic to do 0 to 100 in less than 7 seconds.
The change is the easiest way around solving problem while attracting new potential customers as with the same old setup people are more than reluctant to consider it back. Turbo is some what maligned in the market and its hard to reverse it so it's better to modify and change to make market see their concerned steps.
