140 km/hr is indeed serious speed even from US standards. In many states the speed limit on freeways is 70 miles/hr and people go 5 to 10 above that. Which means 128 km/hr.
140 km/hr means 87 miles/hr which is serious speed for a small size car with no airbags like 1300 cc Corolla. If you are driving BMW 740i with a much larger and heavier body and 4200 cc V8, 16 inch rim tires, multiple airbags its a different story. At 87 miles/hr you feel as if you are going 60. You have much better control.
So if the question is if your Corolla can drive that fast, sure it can.....even faster. But is it adviseable, not so.
Also remember its not just you, your car or the road. Its also other cars and drivers arround you. How much experience they have regarding high speed driving. So, I would advise you not to try those kind of speeds in the future. As they say "Better late than never...."
Also there is no excuse for not wearing your seat belt.
