local production was supposed to bring the prices down, not upward . not a smart move by FAW, had they increased 20k, it might still had a chance to get sold, now people will again switch to wagon-R due to price. i know there is no comparison of v2 with wagon-R but v2 was getting sold due to the fact that it was 2nd cheapest car after mehran, which it is no more. they need to re-consider the prices revision

Even if. V2 price increase is higher because if higher no of imported parts it is failure of faw it self they have failed to localize v2

May be the localization cost is higher than imports. Afterall, it is difficult to meet China pricing/costing.

I am not sure what kind of services our nation wants. They will buy the same Mehran with almost 8 times unjustified price increase over the years, in droves, but if rupee depreciation is translating into price increase for a new entrant, they will bash them to hell. I have said this before, we have different standards for new entrants than we have for the existing players, hence we are stuck with obsolete cars on exorbitant prices.

The truth is, V2 is still the best value for money car as compared to PakSuzuki offerings in hatchbacks. But no, we will bash FAW, although we will go around buying Suzuki again and again, for price more than the poor FAW, and lesser features, because what else do we expect from PakSuzuki. But FAW will not be bought for such a price increase! How dare they price a car with more features than a Swift, in the price of a WagonR!

And I doubt that Hyundai and Kia will launch any comparable hatchbacks at prices lower than FAW V2. I can even bet on it. The Kia Rio and the Hyundai i10 are pricier than the V2 in international markets. They will most probably be priced around 1.5 million. Same is going to be the case for Brio and Yaris. Heck, if PakSuzuki can sell the Celerio for 1.5 million, then Yaris and Brio can be sold for more than that, and that is what will happen. And we are here assuming that those people will price their cars comparable to the V2.

I am on your side on your bet that Hyundai and Kia will be cheaper than FAW even though the new entrants will have the advantage of 50% lesser duties than the existing players.

You can judge a product's success through many perspectives but judging whether a new comer is doing good or bad based on its current market share in a super risk averse society would not be fair.

Delivery time is a good indicator that means their factory is running at its capacity and yet they are facing difficulties fulfilling the order. Its a great sign for a company who has to not only deal with negative perception but also fight well established players in a monopoly.

I would say they are doing fantastic.

Yes, lets hope.
However, as a nation we also need to be vary of our economic situation.
Right now, we cannot afford any imports and players like FAW are extremely important for the health of local auto scene.
Competition will ensure whoever doesnt play by the market's rules will get eliminated automatically.

To add something into discussion I would say that FAW is doing similar Tactics like other 3 Regular Players of Pakistan, all of them are increasing prices every year with a little or no justification and this Time FAW also did same game for V2 too, while FAW XPV already have achieved 3-4 price hikes in last 3 years and the demand is still on the rise may be bcz of commercial use and public awareness.
I don't support price increase by companies without proper justification but I have always heard Auto Markets analysts saying Price hike is always Good for a Product... the Reason; Price Hikes of an Automobile increases Resale value of Old Cars and hence a stronger Brand Image and public likeness and user recommendation... and secondly price hikes also provide a Lucrative opportunity of investment for Authorized Dealers and Own Mafia Investors.... Aur hamaray log Masha Allah .... ziada Price Dene kay liye Tayyar baithay huay hain... Expensive matlab ziada Status..... Ab FAW-China walay bhi iss game mein shamil nazar aa rahay hai.... bhai Japan walay Shareef log baaz nahi aatay to China walay to waisay hi Ali Baba hain.... you are missing the basics of business model foreign investors follow
but our policy makers trap them, twist in policy changes starts after the investor has put in substantial money in infrastructure development, Then the policy changes occur, revised taxation slabs, import duty changes

and THE CURRENCY Depreciation.

No industrialist in existing civilized galaxy want to repel customers. while the government in our country not only repel foreign investment they rip-off common people brutally.

dear sir.i have purchased v2 15 days ago from faw sajjad motors lahore. still it is not registered and its front two mud flappers have fell on some road. and while half mud flapper is attached with car. there are squeezing sound from Digi on bumpy road and internal back view mirror is always vibrating. and 1st and second gear are too sticky. and engine sound is double than my new cultus. rest on next . some one guide me

go back to dealership - pen down all complaints and ask to fix it warranty covers such complaints. for lost mud flap .. did you made a high speed crossing over a speed bump and scrapped the vehicle under carriage too ??

china mal is far better than many cars present here especially your shitzuki yes there are many small quality issues but the price factor is very heavy on all of them.
