Xulfiqar Sb. I didn't use the phone / navigator, nor did I drive the vehicle myself.
It was official vehicle, with driver, and I believe, local drivers know the best possible routes. Natives are much smarter than outsiders.
not always do drivers know the best routes. specially hired drivers, a quick Q/A session about routes shows how much they know abt the city. LOL
You would hardly find any local person as A driver driving all sort of commerical driving be bus riskhaw taxi private cab paid driver all are done by outsiders mostly Khan sahabs
So you stayed where I stay all the time - because my office is in that tower right there
Yes, the Tower is there, and in the night, the "madham" lights looked beautiful, but I stayed near to that tower.
Thats' the typical DJarian mode of guiding strangers to that place .. are you a DJ alumni ? @omersiddiqui5482 @Xulfiqar
hanif has grown old 79+ now. But he now owns the ground floor shop of the building next to BATA building, yes the entire ground floor & mezzanine from a stall to fully equipped gas connected frying table.
Generations of dj college students know that place.
Hanif sb probably has seen every single student of dj going back decades upon decades.
Sir is this the place that also makes fresh kachori during the day time at the frying table? We friends used to walk over there as dow medical college students for many years.
There is also "Tailors Deepak" a scrubs and lab coat tailor shop right across the bata shop at the Pakistan chowk. He is quite famous and almost all my lab coats were purchased from there.
A bit in between your route was the achkan tailor, and if you asked for any embroidery or shiny stuff on your new achkan he would kick you out of the shop.
Kachori wala is under Dakhni masjid which is little farther opposite Hanif. (kachori is deep fried in wok not over flat frying table)
There also is Karachi sweets our regular weekend poori halwa GTG point@ser_gtr
The thread, started with "Frustrated with life in Karachi"; turning towards "In Love with Life in Karachi"
Yes I remember. The place's name was al naseem kachori it was just a few steps after the bata shop and before dakhni masjid and Karachi sweets on the opposite side. This place also had provision to sit upstairs in a very low ceiling first floor.
LOL. Never had the opportunity to visit the achkan tailor but will keep an eye out for the shop next time I visit the area
you are right about the place @Taimur92
Exactly what I was thinking - I would still stick to the 'frustrated with life in Karachi' in my opinion.
there is another bit of trivia with that very street, care to remember it?? - hint - its about the very base of that street.
No idea - I'm guessing it has something to do with Kutchery at kutchery road lol?
soild stone 50 feet wide & quarter mile of street it was of stone when in 2004 PPP decided to destroy the heritage they destroyed the whole street by hammering and excavating stones from 2 feet depth
puranay chaawal of Karachi, LOL
DJ, OLD NED CAMPUS & MITHA RAM Hostels ( Rangers Special Ops office ) are now under International Heritage map
