there are mainly misconceptions about chinese cars, problems do come with every car in our market, be it a honda or a suzuki or a toyota, then why blame only chinese cars??
i have been repeatedly saying, that chinese have become the second largest auto manufactureres of the world within a very quick span of time. their quality & designs have improved a million times. Sadly our so called 'industry' which is basically a monopoly tripod has not been able to do in 20 years what chinese have done in just 2 years. we are offered over priced, feature ripped, insecure vehicles, its a different debate for sure but im really impressed by the chinese cars, they are not better than japanese or korean makes at the moment but the way they are improving, they will be there quite soon.
another thing is that people say chinese cars are crap and will fall apart in few years. that havent been the case since Chery QQ is running on our roads since 2005 & Geely CK since 2007 and i havent seen any of them falling apart as yet. Suzuki when entered our market had a similar type of impression in people's minds, and were considered as toys against the then mature contenders of our market like Datsun, Toyota & Honda.. not to mention the Suzuki FX which is one of the most fragile car ever existed in our market hasn't fall apart in 20 years and still running in a hefty number on our roads. How can we expect Chinese cars to break up so early. The Geely or Chery or any other Chinese brand is better than an FX i beleive and hence wont fall apart as most people believe.
We pay more than 7 lac for a cuore which doesnt even offer rear defrosters or proper retract side mirrors & wont consider it over priced but we call Geely an overpriced car which is a fully loaded sedan in just 8 lac and offers so much more than a 13 lac vehicle of our market..
I hope more & more Chinese brands should come here like Chery & Geely, so that our people may know what 'value for money' is.
