I made a hydraulic press in Pakistan from such a jack just a larger capacity - it was just 4 pieces of very thick angled metal bolted together, the middle part ran on sliders on the sides and the centre plate was also supported by springs. Used a 6 ton jack. Quick and easy way to press and remove items like bearings ball joints bushes etc.
I used this similar small jack to make a diesel injector tester.
btw - never raise the car from the rear axle bushing boss in contact with the jack metal. It will deform the bushing boss. Raise it from the rear of the car commercial jack point with a wooden piece/piece of plank to divide the load. I myself always carried a little piece of carved/grooved wood to go between the jack point and jack. The piece of wood distributed the load very nicely and is soft hence did not dent anything.
