Green number plates? An embarrasment

Misuse=using govt. cars for an activity that affects their performance like drag racing, speed racing, keeping more cars than you are entitled too, marking cars as on official duty but using them for personal purpose and so on...

Dont u think that this is something strictly personal and varies from one officer to another.

Something remains personal if it only affects you... now as you have asked, prayers in home are personal matter, in the mosque it has a positive global effect, drinking in private is personal (i am not advocating its use :)), in public it has moral impact on society... misusing govt vehicles is not a personal matter, it has impacts on society, on officers who live honestly, on national economy... why do you think we all suffer of high oil prices, its partly because of more autos, and partly because of the wastage... all govt. machinery runs on taxpayers money, you pay tax, your dad pays, and then the same hardearned money is burnt in form of misuse. believe me its in tens of billions, Each "un-entitled" litre of oil goes from our pocket, if we want it this way then lets not blame each other or for that matter, the leaders, for screwing up the country, we all are doing it together

But dont u think that staying in the current system, not much changes can be introduced/forced and the only way that one can contribute for betterment of society is to start from oneself.

Sticking to Green number plates. Do u know that drivers and Transport departments of all Ministries do more damage to National Exchequers then officers using the car.
Some highlighting questions:

Why do workshops charge more from Govt. when payment is guaranteed?

Why Drivers always put some sort of requirement approved by official workshops (No needed Repairs) and same get approved by Transport Incharge?

Why Official Petrol Pumps sell fuel at lower rates. They get this fuel from drivers who steal it from official ceiling of some officer?

All i want to say is that problem is very deep rooted and misuse as per your deifinition does not contribute much in extra expenditure of Govt.

ofcourse this IS deep rooted, and also involves political aspects to it... but you do understand that entitlement of facility like car and petrol is for senior govt. officers grade 19 and above, and an honest officer would automatically make sure that the expenses against his name, the mileage, the use, is justified for, and can be audited whenever needed... the whole system needs an overhaul but amends start from home, in such cases, examples are set by the powerful not the powerless... power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely... another 70-80 years and most of us living today would be history what remains is our morals

Being a 20 grader, Govt. also provides one additional 800cc or in some cases 1000cc cars for family or personal use and 160 ltrs and 200 ltrs per month respectively.

Not all grade 20's are entitled. Those working on some projects etc. have 4*4's as well
Actualy grade 21 onward are entitled for private use, ceiling in my father's case is 270 Liters and 1300cc Car.

What happens actualy is a very long story.

Although majority of govt vehicles are mistreated,but still there are some persons who take car of them as if their own hard earned property.I personally know a govt doctor who has a Govt Suzuki Mehran 94 or 95 model. He has kept the car in such a good condition that its better than many of our private cars.

Depends more on the driver then Officer.
If a car is kept by Officer himself it is USUALY just like his own private car because he is the one using it for himself and would never want it to give trouble.
