Honda City 2014 Ground Clearence Issue

Hello Everyone,

I just bought Honda city 2014 and i am having issues with its ground clearance. After some digging i came up with two solutions.
First one is to install padding in rear suspension but that is not recommended by honda mechanics because it reduces overall handling.

Second is to replace my tires 175/65/15 (stock tires). But i am confused with tire sizes:
185/65 15: Recommended by Honda mechanics but not much difference on clearance
195/65 15: Good grip and clearance but effect on avg and odometer reading and also it touches the rear fenders.

Expert opinions are required. If this problem is already discussed than please give me the link to it.

I have 195/65 R15 in my sity 2014, getting 15 KM local average, the reason is that most of the breakers are beyond standard and i have this issue when car is loaded

Thanks for reply. What issue you are talking about? Fender touching or ground clearance?

Dear if the breaker is not up to standards then definately fender pads as well as body, rather fuel doesn't make any differance as beforw i have 185/65

After some research i have found these calculations and i think 185 doesn't make much difference so i should go for 195/65- 15.

Yes agreed also car become more dashing

If you changed tyres from 175/65-15 to 185/65-15, then it won't make any difference in height. 65 is the aspect ratio, i.e height of tyre. If you need more ground clearance find a tyre with aspect ratio 70 or 80. 175 or 185 is the width of the tyre and increase or decrease of width won't affect ground clearance of the car.

what about the current status of your car after installing the 195 tyres ???

I have driven 30K so far using 195. Its working fine. No noise from tires and improved stability. Ground clearance is so much better than 175. If your car is in warranty then use 185 because Honda will not claim your warranty on 195.
One major drawback of using 195 is that fuel economy is reduced by 1 to 2 km/l. My vehicle gives 12 to 12.5 in city and 15 to 17 on long on normal foot.
If you are looking for a good driving experience then install 195. (y)
