Bro its a flop car. Check the spare parts prices of Elantra lol. The Back light costs 77500 while the back bumper costs 60K lol. Meanwhile CIVIC X BUMPER FROM DEALERSHIP COSTS 26K. So here is your answer. Its a flop car with no resale and expensive spare parts & OLD GEN MODEL WITH HIGHER PRICE THAN CIVIC. What else do you need to prove that Elantra is a FLOP CAR with no future?

no its not, i have paid similar prices for parts of city and corolla once claimed through insurance and procured through 3S. besides such plastic parts of civic and corolla cost a bit less now coz of localization. whereas elantra has most of the parts being imported at the moment.

prices of such parts will come down for elantra too in some time. by the way if you look closely corolla rear lights have no markings of the make (apparently they r made/assembled in pakistan) and since i have kept civic and corolla both i can tell u that civic rear orignal lights cost similarly absurd money if you are getting stanley orignal japanese.

however in case of both corolla and civic there are other options like depo taiwan and TKC etc good quality replacements available which are opted by people usually.

Sir with my detailed visit to the showroom, the quality is not better than the competition. In fact, plastic and paint finish is inferior. Only Kia has the proper paint finish in new entrants. Even Sonata paint finish is full of flaws. Toyota has the best paint finish in PKDMS.

But the major reason for bad acceptance is being conjested by C segment standards. Rest is all good. You cant also auto up the window.....only hyundai can explain this legendary miss.

Its a discussion forum not a disdain forum. Using word flop is a discussion or a judgement? Considering oneself right and not paying heed to others is not a discussion. I request all pakwheelers not to use derogatory terms for cars that are owned whether its elantra, rolla or civic. Pick out the pros and cons, please.

We pakistanis generally really hate reality checks. You can see my earlier comments on this thread, how I liked it a lot more than civics and corollas, and still do. But it is really really easy to predict what will happen to the elantra and it won't be good. History is a really good indicator of stuff. Kia/Hyundai have always struggled when they bring something in direct competition for around the same price as any toyota/honda product in the local market. We can also see what a failure sorento has been, just cause it competes with the fortuner.

The only reason sportage, tuscon and maybe sonata got any success in the market is cause of no competition. Does anyone really believe that those cars will be as successful if toyota/honda brings a competing product for around the same price? Being a good car and a market failure at the same time are not mutually exclusive things.

Just my two cents . I got my elantra 2 months back. Moved from Grande . Im enjoying it . It gets me from point a to point b. Just what its supposed to do. I dont expect luxury like a mercedes because i didnt pay mercedes money for it. Top speed doesnt matter coz i have a family to come back to so the speed limit set by the authorities is enough for me.
Also it has safety features comparable to any locally made sedan in Pakistan.
I respect the civic and corolla coz they are good in their own way. Face it upto now we got no other options so ive learnt to live with it.
Ive never seen anyone walk out of a car crash with a resale trophy in one hand cheap spare parts trophy in the other hand.
About old generation. Well i think the new gen is currently just available in left drive market. Also like we get the new gen civic ,city or corolla .
About expensive car parts yes they are expensive but i have my car insured so if God forbid i have to change any thing im covered. If i can afford a 40 lac car insurance wont bankrupt me.
Declaring any thing a hit or a flop is a bit early.

Issue is not resale, it is value for money.

Globally Elantra sells below(10%) the civics and Corolla. When it is selling above them here then that is what the matter is.

The only concern is if you are happy to pay the additional 10% as a personal choice then it is a non issue.

Rest I believe most people spending 4 million will be considerate and will choose the best value for money that they think.

Value for money has a different meaning for every person . For me buying an Elantra was not value for money but do u find the other cars in this segment value for money ?
For me car is not a luxury its a neccessity. And i found it okay. Grande was okay for me too. I need it to move around. Not flaunt it.
Also if ur gonna compare prices in saying elantra is 10 percent cheaper over there . I would also like u to compare features of international variants with ours then compare prices

I don't think anyone calling it a flop is calling it that because of the quality. Low sales also means a flop, no matter if it has amazing quality. Still great that you are having a good experience with it.

I am comparing feature to feature, for a similarly loaded vehicle the elantra is about 10% cheaper, plus the grande here is almost as feature rich as the rest of the world minus the 6 airbags. Plus there is always promotions on the KIA/Hyundai range that even creates deeper price difference

I did not do a mine is bigger than yours, the resale issue is when you will sell it will sell 10% lower than the Corolla/Civic. As per todays market standing.

There will always be copetetive prices when there will be more players in the market. Right now we only have 2 big players they can feed us anything they want. The coutries we look towards have multiple choices.
I was born and brought up in the UK. Resale is a myth over there also a used car loses alot of value. I was over the moon when i sold my Grande 5 lac over what i paid for it new. I bought a Hyundai coz i didnt want to feed the big 3. But i am also happy with what i bought. I know Hyundai is cheaper brand all over but do we have a price beating policy over here?
