I have recently purchased a Corolla XLi. I am facing a problem of initial torque i.e. when ever I am starting from a a zero speed the car tends to switch off unless the RPM is raised high. This happens mostly when the A/C is on. I have tested this tendency by putting the car in the first gear and then releasing the clutch very slowly without pressing the accelerator. The car switches off. I tried this on the older version of corolla and that car did not switch off. Due to this problem the car switches off frequently on signals unless one is careful.
I reported the problem to the dealer and got it checked on the first post delivery service but they said nothing is wrong. In my view the engine has insufficient initial torque which could be due to thick gearbox oil (Which I still need to check) or Toyota may have install larger 15" wheels rims, without changing the gear box and its ratios. If they can install wrong speed o meters on Altis then perhaps this could also be true.
I am posting this on the forum to hear others experience also. maybe I am incorrect or maybe only my car is an exception !!??.
