Case-I: Its 8 hours a day for 5 working days week
Case-II: Its 7 hours a day for Monday to Saturday except 5 hours for Friday
Thus both of above totals to 40 hours a week
Making it 40 hours times 50 weeks per year that is 2000 working hours per year. It is worth mentioning that 2 weeks are your earned leaves (leave with full pay)
Case-I: Banks, Corporate Sector etc
Case-II: Other Public Offices observing 6 working days schedule etc
Exemptions: These working hours are only for Labors, Staff and other people not on Managerial or Supervisory positions. People on Managerial or Supervisory Positions are not Time Bound. They are Work Bound. Like wise people in Essential Services like Military, Strategic Organisations Doctors and Paramedical Staff etc are also not Time Bound rather Work Bound. These people get benefit instead in terms of Privileges
Over Time: A worker can be allowed to work for 1 hour Over Time per 8 hours work day and he/she will be paid accordingly.
Case-I: 0900 Hrs till 1700 Hrs (Without Break) OR 0830 Hrs to 1730 Hrs (With 1 Hour Break Can be adjusted anywhere in mid time)
Case-II: 0730 Hrs till 1430 Hrs (Without Break) and 0730 Hrs till 1230 Hrs (Without Break ) for Friday
Important: Schools have duplication. Students and Children are not Worker so they will not observe these Timings. Teachers are Workers so they will observe these Timings. However again people on Managerial Positions in Schools will also remain Work Bound.
Discussion: All of what is given above is "Indirect Extract" from several sources mainly ILO Regulations, Establishment Code, Other relevant Laws and Constitution of Pakistan. There is no such clear thing exist regarding Working Hours. And yes there is Work Time Abuse among us. But just hold your breath, relax your nerves, cool your mind and then Closely Look at Office Times above. Now ask yourself a question. Are we righteous to ask about Working Times? (وَيْلٌ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ - 83:1 الَّذِينَ إِذَا اكْتَالُوا عَلَى النَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ - 83:2 وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ - 83:3أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُولَٰئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبْعُوثُونَ - 83:4
Advice: Read your Contact Agreement thoroughly. Exceptions are always there. First decide which Role you are in then look for your output and then ask for Reward. If not rewarded, fight and stand for your right but DONOT ABUSE IN RETURN
