i recently found this video from the net, showing lacoste products in Pakistan.

Are all these types of goods, like designer gears made in Pakistan? because they look very good, or are they imported, from like china and thailand,

and are the big sellers to the local people (young generation) in Pakistan?

These are fake lacoste shoes. Anyone who is familiar with shops on bond street, harvey nicks, selfridges harrods, 5th avenue would know Reallacoste are notmade in pakistan.

yes i know they are all fake, thats obvious, but what i wanted to know was are tehse all fake goods sold over pk made in Pakistan, lke i saw some rolex watches and rado etc and clothes, the shop guys said to me , they bought these from "thailand", however my family and friends with me in Pakistan say they are al made in pk but they claim they are from abroad, and change labels on them made in thai etc.

what are your views as you all live over there?

it depends where you buy these stuff from.

We now have dockers and levis shops operating in pakistan. They have original imported stuff aswell as pakistani made dockers and levis pants.

Where as the lacoste shoes you mentioned will mainly be available in small shops in pace etc. And they are all fake.

The only thing exported from pakistan are pakistani footballs, and you can find them lying in major department stors abroad like harrods etc and they all say made in pakistan.

Pakistani manufactured are not sold in upmarket places in usa and europe, as the finishing quality of pakistani made garments is not up to international standard up till now. Even though our cotton is one of the best in the world. But we lack the machinery and resources to produce quality finished garments.

and we do have officaal original rolex and rado shops in pakistan. And they are not fake. But you can buy fake copies from pathans on the side of roads for 200rs. But anyone who has eye for the original products will know in a split second that they are fake.

but as you said you find these pathan selling watches on the road side, ihave come across them and inside shops, that sells these watches and clothing in shops, and they are obviously pirates, but what i was wanting to know, are these mostly our own home made fakes?

well most of the fake garments are locally madel ( pakistan ). But watches are mostly chinese fakes and smuggled via our borders. You would a huge collection of such fake watches in northern area markets like peshawar and quetta. Then some individuals bring them to major cities in pakistan and sell them on road side.Fake shoes are both pakistan made and chinese aswell. But majority are chinese copy.

Like you said most garmets are locally made, Pakistan.
Then why do they have this habbit of printing made in china or even USA on it, when its obvious of the authenticity or not. secondly, why do the shop retailers then further lie (or not) by saing , "we have just been abroad to thailand etc for these goods and are genuine"....

well dont forget you are in pakistan. Here everyone lies in the first place. And the shop keepers always think you can fool ppl. Obviously in such shops mostly those ppl shop who have never been abroad or dont wear authentic branded clothes. So for them even a fake t-shirt with gucci logo would go well.

And about lying, its everywhere , whether you are buying a used car from a dealer, may be furniture where shops owners claim these are imported from spain whereas they are not.

So its up to the buyer to figure out whats fake or not. The seller is obviously going to lie about its origin.

These kind of lies are daily routine stuff. You should know this if you live in pakistan.

anyway do u think the sales of these goods, clothing cd etc will ever end in Pakistan?

I personally think it is highly unlikely it will ever end in pakistan. Reason, pakistan is still an under developed country and people dont have the purchasing power to buy authentic products which are extremely expensive for most economics classes in pakistan. Therefore, they will always buy pirated CDs, DVD's Games, Clothes, Shoes etc.

In pakistan only upper middle or super rich have the purchasing power to buy authentic garments, shoes etc.

mervicck these goods made in china the watches and shoes mainly, come really under the parallel economy.

but moving on abit what about the genuine imports we get, like the cars on this forum and all other consumer goods etc and the trade deficit i think is $15b? i want to know something if you could help me with this. as a nations productivy increases the money supply increases the tool used the interest rate , but say a countrys products increase but also the services increase, for example retail, imported or made home, does the money supply increase then as well?

yes i believe exports have a significant impact on the money supply of countries economy. On the other hand imports are not always a good sign of success as far as monetary policy is concerned. You are paying for the imports in foreign currency mainly us dollar and euros. So it does put a great dent in your foreign reserves and help make your own currency weaker.
Look at US dollar nowadays. US has couple of billion dollar trade deficit, and you see dollar sinking against most currencies like euro, pound sterling and even japanese yenn.

Unnecessary imports are always bad for the economy, but what can you do if pakistan is not capable of producing cars like bmw, jaguars, range rover etc. Obviously the premium byer is going to opt for import such items from abroad. Same with clothes. or shoes. If no local label can produce high quality items like the ones produced by big brands label like gucci, armani etc. Then obviously the premium consumer would like to have them imported to the country.

about the usd it is sinking but they wont sink to deep, the trade balance to them is big but they alos have thousands of other way of getting there money, unlike Pakistan, they have i think 200 companies operating juts in pk, they have all over the world and that cash in rolling in for them, as well as the average american buys usa made good as well as imports,

its Pakistan we need to worry

no sir, i disagree with you on bmw producing cars in pakistan. Our automotive sector is highly amateur at the moment. I dont think any big german brand would consider producing such premium vehicles in pakistan.
Look at the quality of local produced japanese cars like honda dn toyota and compare then to the ones produced in india, china, malaysia etc. There is a huge difference in finished quality.
I dont see this happening unless there is a significant change in automotive sector in pakistan. I highly doubt such change occuring in pakistan for another 2 or 3 decades, and that too if i am optimistic.
