It is like this..... A friend once said, "Aggar Corolla lein to doosron kay leya or aggar Civic lein to apnay leya". What he was saying that the Corolla is a hot favourite with thieves. The Corolla not having an immobilizer doesn't help maters much.
When I was out looking to buy my car a few years ago, two things put me off the Corolla. (1) Very poor build quality and (2) No air bags.
Poor build quality is evident in the fit of the carpet in the boot, the flap over the spare wheel. The roof has already been mentioned, the feel of the switch gear as you press the electric widow buttons, the feel of the dip/full stalk as you move it back and forth or twist it to turn on the lights etc. Then we come to the materials of construction in the cabin, the feel of the materials to the touch in the Civic is about 15-20% better. All in all IMHO the Corolla is about 20% less in quality than the Civic.
If you move to the goodies, the Civic has more tricks up its sleeve than the Corolla. Yes, the screen of the navigation is bigger in the Corolla and the ride is much more soft as compared to the Civic and it is a few lacs cheaper.
What pushed me to buy the Civic? The Civic has a higher chance to be in my drive way over the next 5 years compared to the Corolla and me and my loved ones had a higher chance of surviving a crash in the Civic.
