Legal headlight upgrade

This post may help those people who want to upgrade their headlights but not blind the upcoming traffic.
My journey to learn about automotive lighting started back in 2015 when I was pulled over by a Traffic Warden on the junction of Davis Rd and Mall Rd for using HIDs ( in halogen housing blinding others ).
I searched and read about beam patterns, kelvins and lumens.
I am thankful to that gentle man police officer who was the cause of the study.
I learned that HIDs in halogen housing cannot follow road legal beam pattern and will result in blinding other road users as it creates a lot of glare.
However HID upgrade is still possible by installing HID projectors but it is an expensive & complex process which needs alterations and professional assistance.

But if you want to upgrade your headlights without any alterations by changing the bulbs yourself in ten minutes, the option is using high end 60/55W halogen bulbs.

OR cheaper 90/100W bulbs with cutouts which will produce more light than the stock but less than the high end ones and will last for a few months only.

I have used Philips Extreme vision 130% plus from 2015-2018 in my Suzuki Mehran 2015. Which lasted approximately 3 years and then the low beam burnt out. Philips claims life span of approximately 500 hours and it then costed me approximately PKR 4350.
For comparison stock bulb on one side.

Now I am using Philips Racing Vision 150% for PKR 4600 approximately (expected life span 200 hours) in my Honda City 2010 since last quarter of 2018.
The lights are brighter and provide way longer beam than the stock.
The best part is, it is legal and you will not be pulled over for the upgraded headlights.
Stock on one side Philips on the other.

I try to guide many people here about the pros and cons of different lighting bulbs in different housings and mostly listen, but yesterday I told this guy not to use HID'S in his Corolla and his reply was: It's my car and I'll do whatever I want with it. Well, another idiot on the road I guess.

Install higher wattage bulbs with relays. If that doesn't work, then install good quality LED's.

People here are saying that more than 50-60watt bulbs harm to wiring and holders etc..

All the bulbs are of 55/60 watts that I mentioned in my initial post does not need any alterations and costs around 5000. They are available on daraz or auto expert Rawalpindi. However Philips really vision 90/100 and comparatively ecnomical option but requires really harness which is also plug and play

Exactly, wiring harness directly takes current from battery and does not damage/burden actual wiring. Which is not designed for higher loads. A good wiring harness includes relays, fuses and ceramic connectors. I have bought one from Auto Expert Rawalpindi but not yet installed with Philips Rally 90/100 for my Honda City 2010.

You are right that putting on extra burden can damage electrical wiring. So if you want to install higher watts light gat a wiring harness else go for 55/60 wat

1. Get better bulbs like Philips or Osram with same wattage as stock
2. Get retrofit projectors in your current headlamps
3. Upgrade to grade OEM projection headlamps

You can open owners manual and it will be written under maintenance section
