I moved to the US in 2011, before that I used to live in Karachi and bought the Caltex Havoline motor oil from Lines Area Karachi from Mohmand Oil trading Agency in 210 litre drums. This same oil bought in Karachi Pakistan was used in cars in Karachi Pakistan and had odometers reading 250,000 kms to 400,000 kms.
When the product is genuine and used correctly with correct filtration the service life is good. I would not recommend to use this product in any petrol engine that has catalytic converters or has very tight clearances or one that is Direct injection like mitsubishi GDI or the toyota D4-FS engines like the premio etc. This oil is like poison for those as its not low emmissions and can kill the cat quickly, When used in direct injection engines it can breakdown very quickly as the oil gets adulterated by fuel normally.
As mentioned time and again oil is not simply brand and viscosity.
The havoline motor oil sold in Pakistan was API SG which was a replacement of their old product called caltex supreme (red tin can), the Havoline formula engine oil was API SH and was the carry over of the old havoline product. Both old obsolete grades but perfectly suitable for old engines like the suzuki F8B, Honda A and D, Nissan A12. Daihatsu CB23, Toyota old A, K and Y series etc.
The Havoline Synthetic motor oil is not the old product but is now API SM or SN in some viscosities. It would not be the same that is available in Pakistan unless the package says so. If it claims certain performance specs for API, ACEA or ILSAC then its the same product the world over. That is why there are specifications in the first place.
