Is pyro good? I heard a lot of good about it in this forum and ordered it but now I hear @unstopabl3 says his cells are not holding gravity (probably dying) and he is using pyro since day 1. What could be the reason ?

Adding a good electrolyte is a pre-requisite, things don?t end here, you need to tune your ups, such that if your ups trickle charges the battery then it should switch over to its slowest charging rate after 28 volts if cutoff voltage is adjusted to 28.5 or 28.6 Volts.

If your ups charges the battery on a flat rate then you should adjust such that charging rate is neither to high nor to slow and cut off voltage is properly adjusted.

For C.G to be proper or good, charging rate matters a lot too.

Plus, regarding your last query, we needed someone who could supply a professional grade or good quality electrolyte. Right now only pryo chemicals are the only people doing this, so we are kind of trusting them blindly thinking least it?s a proper company.

Since we have seen Guard, Volta and red battery bottles available in market supposed to be de-ionized water is actually not de-ionized water as these companies are cheating on her customers similarly I have not got a chance to test the de-ionized water being provided by pryo. So I would say, it?s a blind trust till this moment. I would really appreciate if someone is able to actually test the quality of de-ionzed water being provided by them and verify if they actually are preparing the electrolyte by using de-ionized water or not.

This is right that sulfuric acid contents needs to mix with distilled water in-order to show good C.G. if you are experiencing a low C.G in few cells then first you should try to adjust the charging rate to its perfection in accordance to your situation. then check the C.G after few days, even after a week or two, its shows the same trend, then try to guess your next course of action based on date you bought the batteries, plan your activity by buying a good electrolyte etc. flush, can be very useful in restoring the bad cells if C.G on those cells is not below 1120 -1150. I have never heard about shaking the batteries so I would recommend that you should also not try that, least not shake like a wrestler.

No matter what you do, I don’t think you would be able to claim its warranty, I failed to do so in past even once I have good proof of battery being defective. Then I understood that word warranty is a fraud here, which no one wants to honor.

Most likely your battery is ok, try to adjust the charging rate such that it charges the battery quickly or least at rate of 5-8 amperes till 28 Volts then switches to 1 to 2 amperes of charging rate at 28 or 14 Volts depending upon your setup.

If your batteries got the time to charge at rate of 2 or 1.5 amperes for an hour after having hit 28 volts then you would see that your battery gravity will improve within days’ time.

If your backup time is ok, then it’s not an issue with the batteries. remember what I am trying to say here, you don’t want to hit the cut off voltage with the strongest charging rate, you should adjust such that it reaches 28 volts on little high charging rate and then further to hit the cutoff voltage like if its set to 28.6 volts then ups should struggle and take more time with low charging rate set between 1 to 3 amperes maximum.

I understand exactly what you are suggesting, the current kit on my UPS doesn't have such adjustable parameters as it's an old kit. Ishtiaq bhai recommended me to get IC104 or 105 from Imran Co, Hall Road, and I will try to get it tomorrow, then I will get it installed and the trickle charging parameters set.

On another note, I do have Pyro electrolyte left over and I checked it's S.G is 1250, so how can I topup the battery cells which have lower S.G??? I mean how much amount to pour in the cells and how/when to measure if the S.G is 1250 or not as I understand it won't increase to 1250 right away right?

No don’t do this as this will not fix your problem. Electrolyte specific gravity is adjusted once in start, to my understanding your batteries are brand new as you bought them in April. after this, you got to use de-ionized water for topping up, make sure, you buy a right bottle, not the one which faked to be de-ionzied.

Your issue is not batteries nor a bad cell or sulfuric acid content inside that cell. See, I can clearly see your issue after reading your older post. Your ups switches over to its slowest charging rate only at 27 volts, which is wrong. Ups will work, but batteries will never get a chance to charge its self fully and eventually will show a bad specific gravity.

Ups should switch over to its slowest charging rate only at 28 volts or least at 27.8 volts for rest of the charging till the set cut off voltage( if you have set it to 28.5 volts).

Once you have seen, that 28 Volts have been attained in good decent time, you should program such that its slows down the charging rate to its lowest value between 1-3 amperes till the cut off voltage which you have set it to 28.6 Volts. Then do not worry if ups keeps on charging the batteries till ever if voltage is between 28-28.6 Volts, because you know you are safe now and this little current is doing some good to your batteries like topping up the batteries with a right current which will repair any damages done to it in form of sulfate crystallization, bad C.G like which you are reporting right now and will increase the backup time and will truly charge the battery in a right way as needed.

Guys in case of no loadsheddung it is better to unplug ups n switch it off while putting the load direct on wapda or it should remain on standby. Which state is better for battery health?

Keep it attached, it won't do any harm that way, besides loadshedding will happen sooner or later so you won't have to rush to connect all the things.

I didn't have time to replace the kit to IC105 before but now I have time to do it. Another user said he also purchased a "Module" with the kit and replaced both in his UPS. Can you please tell me what this module is and if I need to replace it for my UPS as well (please look at my UPS pics on page #107) or do I only need to replace the kit?

Secondly, I forgot to ask you this, when I went to the UPS repair guy a few months back when the UPS was charging slow on 13A wire/loop, he diagnosed that the transformer is dying and will need to be replaced and it will cost 5000-8000Rs. How can I confirm if this the transformer is good?

Also if you could look at my latest posts on this page and guide me about the S.G issue, that will be awesome.

If your UPS is working fine and you want to upgrade the kit.......then there is no need to buy module.( Module is next generation of Transistor, more efficient and powerful than transistors

Dears my pyro 30litre can from Lahore has arrived from Lahore, I am planning to go buy batteries today inshaa Allah 2 x AGS GX 165 (130AH) batteries and decided against Phoenix UGS series since @unstopabl3 did not have good results. My UPS charging current is 10.7 amps @ 24volts UPS

ith power crisis becoming an epidemic across the world, frequent power outages are no surprise. Some countries have to go through load shedding for 12-14 hours a day. UPS comes as a savior for the people of these countries as it provides backup power supply when the grid supply goes away.

The main cost involved in running a UPS are the batteries that have to be replaced every 2-3 years. Today, we will reveal you a simple trick that has been used by Geeks for decades to give a second life to batteries.
For this to work, all you need is a pack of Epsom salt and distilled water. Epsom salt is commonly available from any big chemist shop since epsom salt has many cosmetic uses as well. Some chemists call it Magnesium Sulphate so ask for both the names at the chemist.

Once you have these two things, follow the instructions below:
Take 2/3 cup of Epsom salt (MgSO4) and add it into 2 cups of distilled water.
Heat the solution on a stove in a sauce pan till Epsom salt is totally dissolved in the water.
Disconnect and safely remove battery from the UPS.
Wear safety equipment ( Gloves and safety glasses)
Open the filler caps of the battery.

Add an equal amount of the MgSO4/H2O solution into each filler hole of the battery till you have consumed all the solution.
Replace filler caps and put the battery on charging.
Thats it, now you need to wait for a week as the condition of the battery will start to improve by each passing day. The cells will de-sulphate and the battery will start to give better backup time by each passing day. The battery should give best performance in 8-10 days. You can use this trick after every passing year and use your UPS battery for an extra 2 years.

I feel if company says that certain series is specifically made for UPS or inverters then one should prefer that for an application. I have seen once such series from phoenix, if some other brand is making it then you are most welcome to buy that.

Problem @unstopabl3 was facing was not with the battery brand, it was solely because of UPS tuning as advised to him. His ups would switch over to 1-2 amperes of charging at 27 volts, which off course would have taken ages for battery to fully charge it?s self. We already discussed that once we have frequent load shedding?s then we want the batteries to be prepared for next cycle of load shedding.

Battery with good electrolyte is only a pre-requisite and is a first part to the entire game. Second part is the tuning of your UPS.

If any of it is bad, then putting the blame on a good factor is only a stupidity and your issue will never be resolved.

Hello frnds hope all of you will b fine.
I faced this a problem a couple of weaks ago bt was bizi so was not able to share.
I baught 2 ugs 175 batteries in start of ramazan and i am using 2 kw desi ups .the pic of the card is attached below.now i have the following issues.
1. In full charged condition the cells which are near terminals show almost 1220 specific gravity while the rest of all cells show almst 1200 specific gravity and in almst last 1 month the electrolyte also decreased a lil bit in 4 cells.
2.i had set the max charging current to 13 amps and during last stage of charging it is reduced to 5 amps.i set the cut off voltage to 28.8 V. Now the issue is when i set the bat low volatge to almst 21V when the batteries get full all the charging inducators leds are on.but as soon as the wadpa goes off and load is transferred to ups top 3 lights get off at once and jst 2 leds are left on i.e 20 % led and 40% led.the voltage at that time on terminals is near to 24.5V.
And at full charged condition when load is on wapda the terminal Voltage is 25.something.
