AOA friends, I wanted to share few pictures from my trip to Mt. Pinatubo volcano crater during Eid holidays, after all pardaysey also needs to celebrate without family and friends.
Drive from Manila on North Luzon Expressway was tempting and I was caught with my pants down by a speed gun. I had forgotten speed limit of 100. From the starting point we boarded on jeeps for an hour adventure on ash and lahar streams. Then a three hour trek took us to the crater.
Mt. Pinatubo eruption was the deadliest of the 20th century. After 450 years of sleep it emitted 100 billion metric tons of magma in 1991 up to 45,000 meter in the sky. This coupled with a strong typhoon forced half of Philippines in complete darkness. Ash even touched borders of Thailand, increased world's temperature by 1 degree Celsius for over a year. 20,000 US soldiers based in Clark were evacuated and they never returned back.
After relieving itself from extreme frustration, volcano is now a beautiful lake. At some places still hot water is pouring out from the base but lake is keeping it calm.
I hope you will enjoy...
