I can only offer that it is a very good idea to restore a Rocky. It is a much sturdier vehicle as compared to similar sized Suzuki Potohar, and cheaper when compared purchase-cost wise. The spares are available; not bad. The only limitation in my opinion is the off-road capability: It reaches its traction limit very easily: so, one has to be careful when climbing difficult terrain, especially if one is used to good vehicles like Land Rovers, especially the Defender 90, and LJ 71 or better vehicles (there are many!). In routine off-road/on-road driving, pleasure off-roading, hunting, etc., it is an absolutely wonderful car, with minimal maintenance requirements.

Northern areas is no exception. All the terrain is perfectly acceptable by a mid-range off-roader like Rocky. The size and the toughness of teh vehicle makes it ideal for off-roading in these areas. GO FOR IT.

We started from Abbottabad late in the evening, and reached Kiwai around midnight. Had a good Tea Break, relaxed in easy chairs, with feet dangling in the water, and thought about whether to go to Shogran, where some guests had already gone, or to Naran, and camp on Saif ul Muluk. Eventually decided to go up to Shogran.

Next morning was beautiful, with bright sunlight, and a cool breeze.

Naran looked better by night. The Jeeps were resting after another hectic day.

We found a Suzuki Mehran, and two Corolla vehicles on our way up. They were struggling, but we Salute their adventurous drivers. They had put all off-roaders to shame!..... ha ha ha….

On our way beyond Saif ul Muluk it started raining. We turned back, and the way down was absolute pleasure. I have never enjoyed Saif Ul Muluk as this return journey…….
