It's been ages since I've updated or even opened Pakwheels, the troubles are endless here to be honest. We don't have any knowledgeable mechanics, just 'shagirds' who were taught by there 'ustaads' in an endless cycle. So they only know what their 'ustaads' taught them, so can't do shit on newer cars. They do test and trials on our cars, and then teach them to their 'shagirds' and so on, you get my point. As an update, my issue hasn't been resolved yet, clearly. But, I do feel I've had a lot of progress.
I found a knowledgeable mechanic/tuner, he has done a Diploma from NED in Automotives, at least that gives him some upperhand over others. I showed him my car, and told him everything to date, he took a test drive, and after 5 minutes just fixed one thing, the ECU ground connection. He joined it with the grounding kit I bought. I was indeed kind of impressed, he knew where to look, why to look and how to look. No time wasting, no stupid bullshit test and trials. After that, something did change in my car.
Then started the O2 Games, with me and the O2 Sensors. (I went to metro one fine day, bought an entire toolkit and an entire Wrench set, everything I'd need to get nitty-gritty with my car myself) the results of grounding the ECU properly were that, on the original O2 Sensor the CEL would come on a lot later, almost about an hour of driving, but the car would tremble very slightly, actually unnoticeable to an average driver. The trembling would happen when you turn on the AC or put the car in gear and drive off immediately, in any case there would an immediate need of power, it took almost half a second. Ah, been getting into so many details with this car, that I started noting the slightest and tiniest of changes. Secondly, when I replaced the Original O2 Sensor with the one I had ordered online, there was no trembling, at all. But, the CEL came on within 5 minutes.
I contacted that same guy, told him the details. He said he'd look at my car in detail, but for that he'll need good Scanner which he currently does not have, told me to contact him about 2-3 weeks later (I'm still in that time period, this is the third week). That's all for him, moving on.
Almost 3 days ago, my brother said "Have you looked at the fuel cap? It's kinda weird", frankly I had never noticed the fuel cap, I mean, why would I? So, I went ahead and popped open the fuel lid and laid my eyes on a complete piece of shit. It was a Mehran's fuel cap, with the center plastic completely broken or cut off and sealed with silicone (I'll attach pictures). And I was like wtf? I researched everything about fuel caps that night, turns out they are a MAJOR DEAL, I mean heck who would've thought. So, there are two kinds of fuel caps Vented and Non-Vented, don't know which one goes with my Swift. The shit-cap already on the car was completely sealed, no Venting of any sort there. So I bought a fuel cap for Rs.150, local shops have only one, and it's made of garbage plastic by the looks of it, it's Vented. They only have Vented fuel caps, so I think it's the standard here.
Yesterday, I changed the O2 sensor to the new one, and changed the fuel cap. Also, due to the rain in Karachi the past week, my new post-CAT O2 stopped working, luckily the original one worked perfectly, I had only gotten it replaced for the sake of having both sensors replaced with new ones, so I changed that one too. Bear with me here, scenario 1 (New Sensor, CEL comes on in 5 minutes) and scenario 2 (Original Sensor, CEL comes on in an hour & tincy wincy trembling). We're on scenario 1 right now, but guess what after changing the fuel cap, the CEL came on 3 hours later. So today, I'll change the O2 sensor to the original one and see what happens, Inn Shaa Allah something good, hopefully.
One more thing, yesterday I also went to a Suzuki 7S Dealership, the biggest one here in Karachi I think. My friend knows a guy who works there, long story short. They said give us the car, we'll inspect it thoroughly each and everything from start to bottom, head to toe. It can take from 1-4 days, and there's
a 90% chance we'll resolve the issue, if we manage to fix it our charges will be Rs.4000 + the cost of the part that needs to be fixed if you wish to get it from us, if we're unable to detect the issue only a cost of Rs.2000 as our labor charges will be billed.
If by changing the car to scenario 2 with the new fuel cap fixes it, Alhumdulillah. If not, 7S dealership, here I come!
