@Ruffian, dude i wont argue here as i dont like Any Pakistani automobile maker myself, but you must have seen many brands packing up, Dewan is finished, Chevrolet is about to leave, gandhara Nissan said goodbye to cars for many years until recently they decided to come back with another failure, anyhow to cut it short, the setup in Pakistan is not business friendly / pocket friendly for car manufacturers.
Running a factory is not halwa in Pakistan, keep the inflation aside, a engineer who was happy @ 12k some 6 - 7 years back now need atleast 35k, an executive who was happy at 1 lac now wont come for less than 5, are companies fool to hit an axe in their own feet by raising prices of the cars with such low sales ? i dont think so, inflation is the key factor no matter what, parts coming against $ and that $ is at 85 now, the 18,000 / ton steel is at 60,000, my house's Electricty bill that used to stay under a 1000 rupees in winters (no heater etc in Karachi) has gone upto Rs. 4,000, they the car manufacturers must be paying some electricity / gas and other utility bills too, for small things here i have to pay bribe in offices, people like Rehman Malik wont be happy with a mere 1,000 rupees / unit, those guys want more, the list is long.....
Why should a dying product like Santro has to be priced @ 8 lacs ? why failed Liana is for 10 lacs, why cant they lower its price so it may sell more ? nobody's a fool ma lil friend
have you seen the figures of car sold in 2005 - 2006 and now, their sale has dropped by 1/3rd, they expanded their factories for what ? to collect dust ? they are collecting dust, 3 shifts have come down to 1, doing business in this country is not easy
