Exactly. But Good Luck making people understand that. They will only understand from their personal experiences.
Recently, the only thing worrying people, is after sales and availability of spare parts. I wish Ravi doesn't f*ck up their customers like that, because it took them 7+ (or maybe 10) years to reach where they are now.
Another thing; people buy brand new bikes and think they won't have to spend any extra penny on it. Well guess what, you still have to spend at least 10k more if you want to secure the future of your purchase.
Let me explain. All new bikes, Honda, China, Suzuki, whatever ... have Tyres and Rims coming with a pathetic quality. Changing those Rims is a MUST. If you don't, you are only delaying the inevitable.
Piaggio's price is less. Spend a little extra say,10 or 15k more, and make custom stuff (say, a chain cover), replace parts (say, tyres, battery, headlight or whatever) and your bike is ready ... even more ready than any other bike. But good luck making people understand that.
