Dear Pakwheelers, This is a simple question and I need real quick answer cuz its a matter of decision making. PLEASE DO NOT START A WAR which ends up in nothing.
I want to switch over from 2010 GLi to 2011 Civic VTi. Unfortunately the Civic does not have EPS as in 2010 GLi. Is it really a deal-breaker? I mean would I be missing my Corolla's light steering? Cuz if I cant interact with my car smoothly both at slow and high speeds (through the steering of course) then I may as well stick to Gli. Please just stick to the point and comment if you've driven both because I haven't.
In short YES, the steering of civic is a bit hard compared to GLI. I would suggest driving the civic before making a decision. Deal breaker or not? Depends on your personal preferences
I am not a professional but tell me something ..... were u driving back in old ages when there wasnt any EPS system?? If yes then, you shouldnt be worried about it ..... after all Honda is better engineering. Some old/experienced drivers still prefer non-power steering cars ..... although its PITA during parking .... thats my thinking .... wait for professionals. Upcoming models/resales/comfort/maintenance = kept aside
I understand it maybe slightly stiff but is the difference "noticeable'? I also understand I'm saying bye bye to resale and maybe fuel efficiency.@unware: By professionals, I never meant reviewers only, your comment is more than helpful.
C'mon guys, Pakwheelers, where are you? Need little help here.
Sir EPS or not, you can easily steer the Civic steering with 3 fingers and palm of your hand.
The real differences are in suspensions, dashboard, visibility and trunk space, you should watch for that closely.
I think the Corolla GLi 2010 & Civic 2011 are slightly different types of cars. One is a 1.3l and the other 1.8l. EPS is definitely not a deal breaker. Most people who know and love driving, recommend conventional power steering as in the Civic. The EPS gives an artificail feel and you can't really get much road feedback. Resale is a totally different field. If you love driving then you would go for the Civic but if you are interested in resale then perhaps you should stick to the Corolla.
2011 Civic is far better dear in all aspects.Though it does not have an EPS but still there is very negligible difference.Civic is faaaaaarrrrrrrr better.Go For it.
Sir, why giving so much weightage to EPS, its not a deal-breaker..Civic has many other plus points over GLi, you can compare Altis with Civic not GLi with Civic!
Dear Members< Thanks for your valued feedbacks. Actually I've experienced GLI and of course its EPS, felt great but yes one does get an artificial feel of the whole thing. That Civic's feel (which now I have tested and understood) is more natural. Well, its time I switched........to Civic.
