I recently purchased a Suzuki Wagon R from Pak Suzuki and took it to Islamabad Excise and Taxation for registration. The car was purchased for 11,59,000 and 15,000 were also added to the price as "Advance Income Tax'. The total amount I thus paid to Pak Suzuki was 11,74,000.
The 'calculator' on PakWheels and Islamabad Excise & Taxation's websites indicated that I have to pay PKR 15,074 in total (11,590 for registration, 384 for Token Tax, 800 for Income Tax, 1500 for smart card fee and 800 for number plate fee). My 'guy' there however informed me that I will also have to pay 'Advance Income Tax' (PKR 20,000).
How is this 'advance income tax' different from the 'advance income tax' I have already paid at the time of purchase? Why isn't this advance income tax mentioned when you are calculating online? Doesn't it amount to double taxation? Any input / advice shall be appreciated.
