the truth is that most local cars suck and are WAY too expensive for what you are getting,..... but people who own local cars will not realize it untill they actually own an import.

I write this post to convey my utter disappointment over the attitude of you guys. Do you have any idea how much employment suzuki is generating? Do you have any idea of the foreign exchange that is involved in importing cars? Is importing cars our priority or fighting poverty, hunger and illiteracy? India launched TATA NANO, its worse than mehran i believe, but i dont see anyone criticizing it. This is because the people can afford it !!!

In a country like pakistan where 30+% people are under poverty line, can people buy vitz priced 600k+ ?? Why is mehran the best selling car in Pakistan?? Because thats the only car some people can afford.

Sure local cars are crap but one has to be realistic rather than being rash and talking about burning cars.

Why dont we pledge to become automobile engg and revive the industry in the future??

And before anyone of you lash out on me, its my opnion, have the decentcy to respect it.

urite local mADE cars r totally useles and waste....we all should boycoot it ...they charge too high for just the useless piece of crap...why???they should cut down their prices and make better qualityu cars rather then just saving money by fitting third class quality material......we shouldnot buy unless and untill they dont realize it....

very well said indeed, but do note that the local manufacturers only target those who CAN afford these cars (those who can't are trgetted by banks).

those who buy local cars do so becasue they feel that they are buying somethign trouble free with a warranty etc,.. i've made that mistake. honestly even now the standard of local cars is sub-par yet our people are so stupid that they will not only keep buying them but also will keep paying "own" (premium) just to haev the car ASAP, even though the dealers are flooded with car (they hold them to control the market).

if manufacturers built more cars than the demand the price would fall like mad because there would be a surplus of car.

totally agree with the thread. but i disagree with the tone of some ppl. its a fact to accept that many many ppl here are just able to buy any car worth 200000-400000. what should be there option. they do not have the luxury to be selective. they must not be bashed. those who have the power to buy any imported car but still go for local are the ones who are real followers. these ppl need education in this context that its worth giving the price of luxury and safety. resale is also not that bad as highglighted. i owned a platz and i madly loved it the moment i bought it. now i have 2005 vitz coz my previous experience was too good. and this car is even better. for 8.75 lacs it is much better than cultus or even city. but at the end, either we as a nation are affraid to experiment or are simply followers, only react but can never act.
