AoA. I have Alto VXL AGS and facing this weird issue. Whenever I release the accelerator, the AGS shifts down immediately. It doesn’t wait for the appropriate speed to downshift. For example, if I am in 5th gear at 55 km/h and let go of the gas, it instantly drops to 4th. This causes the engine to roar since the car is still moving at a high speed. This happens in other gears as well, though I’ve noticed it doesn't occur when the car is traveling above 60 km/h.

Suzuki Defense quoted less than 30 days for the VXL. What about the other dealerships?

The automatic programming in gearing is to apply 4th gear below a speed of 50 km/h; it also upshifts only when it reaches 50 km/h. The downshift makes the engine roar, as the car has a rev match feature to reduce jerk during gear shifting. If the car has started doing something new and the gear changes have changed, then you should get it checked. I drive in manual mode most of the time to reduce engine noise and to change gears early, saving fuel and my ears. The auto shifts of the car are on higher rpms.

A simple patch of software in ECM can give us the options/modes like sports mode normal and Eco, i am laughing to think alto on sports mode though like other manufacturers

An electronic throttle controller does the same job but is completely external and connects to the drive-by-wire system of the car through the throttle pedal. I have installed one on Revo, and I love the response. I have been searching for one for Alto but couldn't find it.

This is not normal AGS behavior. You should see if it downshifts above the normal downshifts speeds in manual mode too.
The normal upshift/downshift speeds in alto AGS are
* 4--> 5 50 km/h | 5 --> 4: 40 km/h
* 3 --> 4 40 km/h | 4 --> 3 30 km/h
* 2 --> 3 30 Km/h | 3 -->2 20 km/h
* 1 --> 2 ~15 km/h | 2 --> 1 ~5 km/h
Releasing the accelerator in 5th gear at 55 shouldn't lead to a downshift. It should stay in 5th gear, and only on slowing down to 30 km/h should it downshift to 4th gear. Similarly, it shouldn't downshift in other gears either unless at the low-speed limit of the current gear. Only exception to downshifting above the lower speed limit of current gear is when you press the gas pedal and the car downshifts to give you more power.

Might be a problem with a sensor leading to wrong calculation of gearbox input or output shaft speed, or engine load value. What's your car model and mileage? Have you changed the gear oil if over 50-60k driven?

I believe RPMs are the second factor in up/down shifting.

Similar odd behavoiur is also started happening with me since few days. the car goes into 5th gear from 3rd at 40, shifts to 4rth in few secs and then goes into 5th at 45-50 speed due to which the flow breaks and i have to push pedal to come back in lower gear and it goes directly into 3rd and this happens continuously on straight roads with normal load and driving behaviour. the car has done 49k kms and gear oil not changed. few months back i had done the gear learn sequence with the help of scan tool. the car performed flawless after that without jerks and quick gear shift response.

but this behaviour is happening after car wash service which i doubt has anything to do with the gear shifting behaviour.
