That is plainly and simply wrong, buy a well maintained car, one with proper service history, otherwise be prepared to hit the workshop every third day, and probably be ready to be carless for days in the case of a liana.

there is no guarantee of even a well maintained car - if you read it clearly, i have written that any car with 10+ years of age will not be issue less - kahin na kahin kuch honay wala hota hai normally. and secondly, i mentioned that the advice is to have a good running machine in minimal costs. Liana's M13 engines are in abundance in markets - a reasonable search can buy you a very clean one without issues. what is best in having a trouble free car within 5 lacs. atleast i have good experiences with this. otherwise, he can simply spend 10 lacs and get hold of a 'so-called-problem-free-Honda-city' with a full file of 'service history of 1.5-decade'

It shows what works has been done on the car from the start, buying a scrapyard engine has absolutely no guarantee, and for a novice to buy a beat-up liana and then try to fix it up, that is like letting someone into a lion's den and locking the door behind them, its insane.

Yeah absolutely right, end users who have zero knowledge about engines get ripped off in markets... But when we're picking engines, we ourself get a clear picture of how many kms on the engine, compression, inspecting coolant system. Etc and everything is visible..

But if the car is company maintained and owner has maintained the history it would be so easy to maintain it. But liana is better then shitty and all other cars of this price range sir.

i was talking about Karachi market - yahan tamam cars ki prices considerably low hoti hain. 400k me Liana mil jati hai jisko aap re-store kar len 50k me. so this option is always on the table.

buy an car with proper service history and maintenance, it will be trouble free if taken to specialists.
The easiest to maintain are corolla, city, civic, and so on.
in 10 lacs, you can get a decent 2002-2008 corolla, best to buy that.

Why don;t you consider 2004/05/06 eagle eye civic. Its comfortable plus looks are much better than all the cars mentioned. I owned one and it does not require frequent maintenance (like reborns had some known issues which requires frequent maintenance). Just keep changing oil on time and u r good to go. You can get a clean car in ur budget. I sold mine 2004 exi manual first owner 84k driven for 9.6 in 2017. Look for that option as well.

I was thinking the same.. Corolla seems better option than liana.
I might either look for city or a good corolla..
