Thanks Man! That says something! The 1UZ is indeed a tough engine and this particular piece was in fine nick at the start of the rally and just a little bit of sanity on the part of the driver (and navigator) would have ensured it made it through. Running with 4x4 with centre and rear diffs locked means that the engine is forced to turn at least three tires at the same speed at any point in time. The track was pretty severely cut up by the time we got on it and it was taking some effort bulldozing through most turns, especially with my conscious choice of running 16 and 14psi tire pressures! Nevertheless, the main culprit remains myself for (i) taking off the mufflers to narcisistically fall in love with the sound and (ii) not dropping third even though it had overwhelming torque even off of idle. Nevertheless no regrets!
