You're right on one account certainly. The few traditional car makers that do still incorporate hood ornaments use solid figurines (Rolls Royce, Jaguar, Mack, Merc etc). Elsewhere in this thread though, I mentioned that the hood ornament on Sleipnir is based on actual ancient rune-stones and scripts...which is why I'm going to keep it exactly the way it is. Rather than detract from the overall effect, I think the ornament serves to accentuate the length of the hood...and its curves and contours, offset the ramrod-straight lines, too.
Besides...I like it.
