It got dark after crossing Malakandi. After crossing Kiwai, bike again stopped due to same switch fault. A Suzuki Ravi pickup was passing by, they stopped and asked that is everything OK? I told them that my bike is giving some electric problem and I hope that I can temporarily resolve the issue with the "Jugar" as I did before. I did the little magic as before and it got started again. Pickup guys said that you go ahead and we are coming behind you incase you need any help. Clouds were thundering on sky and when Balakot was 20km and Mansehra was 60km away, it stopped again. No jugar was working this time and despite all my efforts it refused to turn on. Meanwhile pickup guys approached, I waved them to stop. I told them that my bike is not starting this time. I ask them that how much will they charge if they carry me and my bike till Mansehra. They said that they are natives of Mansehra and they are going back after visiting their relatives in Kiwai so they will charge me nominal Rs.1000 and if I have asked some one else they would have demanded 2-3k. I agreed and loaded my bike in the luggage compartment of pick up, tied it up with ropes. Putted my lauggage, helmet, gloves etc on floor of pickup and sat beside it. By that time it has started drizzling little. When rain started pouring heavily they offered me to sit in cabin with them. They were relatives/friends. One's name was Yousaf and other's I forgotten.
They said" kidhron aa rahey hu na gee". I replied"Gilgit".
They: "Tusi Punjab de log pata ni ki khanney hu, kafi motey honey hu na gee". Me "bus ki kareye". Actually it got conjusted in cabin with presence of 3rd person of 6'1" height and they couldn't have ask me to go back to back compartment as it was raining heavily.
They: "Tusi Lahore ne hu". Me: "nahin Mutan na".
They:"Allah de bundio inna lamba safar kerney hu koi motorcycle tey acha rakho na gee" Me: "gee bus Mansehra pohanchiey ajay tay"
I then shifted to back compartment when rain slowed down. I called a friend in Mansehra, told him situation and asked for help. He said that he would get free after Taraweeh prayer around 10pm and told me a location where I have to come. I conveyed that location to pickup guys. When we reached Mansehra it was almot 10:30Pm and my friend was waiting. Unloaded the bike, payed the pickup guys and thanked them for stopping by in the time of need. Then my friend telephoned a mechanic friend and he said that he would come in half hour. Meanwhile we went to a cafe, drank tea and started waiting for mechanic. He came almost after an hour and took us to his shop nearby. He opened his shop in that late night hours and resolved the issue within half an hour by directing/bypassing the switch. He said that my bike's switch is faulty and I should replace it after reaching home. After the problem was rectified, I was in a mood to continue the journey towards Pindi but my friend said that you shouldn't go in that late hours in pouring rain. He took me to his home and brought fruits, tea and pakoras. He told that his elder brother is coming from Umrah next morning and his flight would land around 7:15AM at Islamabad airport, so he would go around 4am to pick him up from Islamabad Airport. He said that I should sleep and he would wake me up around 3:30AM. It was already 1:30AM, so i retired on bed and had a nap of couple of hours untill he woke me up. Around 4AM I departed from Mansehra and continued my journey towards Rwp/Isl. Near Haripur it started raining again and I took shelter under shade of a CNG station. When rain slowed down started off my journey again towards Hattar, Taxila and near Hattar it again started pouring heavily but this time I didn't stop. When I reach Taxila it was raining cats & dogs. But i kept riding towards Pindi. All my clothes and luggage bags were wet and there seemed a flood of water on GT Road but all my concentration was to reach pindi and take a hotel. Tried a hotel on Pirwadhai More but it was closed. Then I went to GPO chowk and eventually to Murree road to take some hotel near Moti Mahal/Committee Chowk. Many hotels were closed due to next day being Eid. One hotel guy given me room till 1PM.
