I seem to have a problem in my car. bought a used 2007 Vitz last year, its working fine apart from one thing, the AC belt was getting noisy time by time, so i took it to Toyota Center. they told me that my compressor is not the original one, the one installed has a small pulley (4pk) size and original Compressor has a (6pk) size pulley, matching all the other pulleys, hence original belt was worn out and it was making quite a noise.
The Genius at Toyota initially thought that the compressor pulley size is (5pk) so he asked me to buy that size belt and installed it, it was clearly not fitting the pulley so he and an other supervisor were giving me suggestion that i should get the pulley of compressor changed, they told me that it will make some noise afterwards so dont worry as its not a fit.
but today after 4 days, that belt was coming apart and making lot of noise in engine bay, so i went back to them and installed a (4pk) size belt which fits the compressor pulley, lets hope it doesn't start to break. Toyota did not have the original one, Original one from market costed 3500/-, i bought a Bando one for 480/-
my concerns:
1) will that Bando belt survive? or should i get original one for 3500/-
2) can i get AC pulley change? i am assuming they would have to take compressor out in order to do that. i asked a mechanic and he told me pulley can not be changed, whole compressor will be changed. but i doubt that. kind of sound illogical.
3) their is no alteration in AC pipes and AC works perfect but i cant see any sticker on compressor so no idea which compressor it is.
