Get quickly to hongkong man, I went to Bangkok last year in november, didnt like it. Especially those food stalls on the foot paths, I didn't know what they were selling but they surely smelt bad like hell and I literally vomited once passing by one of those stalls. The taxi cabs although metered, most of the times do not use them, those taxi drivers try their best to rip you off in every best way possible. In phuket, the patong beach was too crowded and dirty but thankfully i booked my stay at JW Marriot at Mai Khao which was far away from all the dirt and had its private beach. Personally, I think Malaysia is a far better option to visit than Thailand. Its clean and people are more nicer and friendly.

I am planning to goto hongkong via srilanka on srilankan airways this year. Its a shame that there are so much less options of getting a flight to hongkong other than PIA from Pakistan which itself is 20+ hours duration connecting through bangkok. Countries like India, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Thailand have so many low cost carriers that fly to other asian destinations but none comes to Pakistan.

Gaysorn Plaza and Central World, Ploenchit Road (Chit Lom)...

^^It's super hard to find a taxi wallah who's willing to take you to your destination, especially outside the big shopping malls. They go where they want to go, not where their fare-paying customer wants to go. Thankfully, the cabbies in Bambai sheher are more polite, and follow the law to a greater degree than Thai cabbies. Bangkok gridlock (has a nice ring to it, dunnit?) is of course, LEGENDARY!

Bangkok is a diverse metropolis - the way I like it! I went to have some tea and hookah (which by the way, I'm not a fan of) to an Egyptian place in the city's Arab Town - Nana. The acres of chrome and SS was a bit of an overdose, but I guess that's what makes Elmassry special. It's the same way the streets outside wouldn't feel like Bangkok if the authorities stuffed the crazy mass of overhead electricity wires underground.

Needless to say, I left the place all high and happy...

Crossing west over the Chao Phraya river gets you into old Bangkok. Mostly low-rise, and with loads of character, this part of Bangkok is in my opinion, more fun than the other side...
