Sorry brother, I forget to answer the 2nd part of your question about Pajero.
Indeed, my friend this 4X4 is doing great in India. Hindustan Motors is making this vehicle in India and there are two models available:
The 2.8 is locally made ( 55% ) and is available for just Rs. 18.14 lacs on road the other version ( Biggerone with a monocoque shell, I have yet to check the configuration ) is a CKD import and avialable through HM dealers it costs somewhere between 35 lacs.
The Pajero is a well accepted offroader in India but strictly for good roads only ( as we witness here ) because the upper segment rarely uses it for offroad purposes except for a few real cowboys with some extra bucks to spare for a Pajero on offroading.
Basically, it is loved for its image and generally people do not indulge in serious offroading with a Pajero. Party and style use only.
But now Prado is giving tough times to the Pajero as it is available through Toyota Kirlosker dealers. Here people prefer Toyota for anything else.
