Pk use really makes car engine parts dusty. we have to give unfortunately extra lot of effort on cleaning to keep cars in good quality condition, otherwise perf suffers.

salts collected,, even though i used toyota's recomended coolant later but water must had been used for leakchks sometimes back

my silly idea of painting exhaust pipe some months back,, lol,, paint dried offleaving dots behind

headers section, spring loaded connector to reduce engine vibration in car.

under/behind battery area,, needs cleaning this is where engine picks up air from

orginal wiring of 4age

mech still managed to drop the a/c compressor on exhaust which broke the joint of ehaust, later had get that fixed,(additional work),. so much cleaning needs to be done here lot of dribs/dust stuck everywhere..

heater pipes,, i keep them connected even in summer but some folks disconnect heater in summer.

ok we installed new fuel filter, while we were at the opening/cleaning thing.
removed power steering oil container to clean under

alternator. , what should i clean on it? looks ok to me

there was a dent on new chamber cover so we used old engine's 1.

positioning timing belt on its marks. 4age20v has 4 marks to position

here is view of timing belt on adjuster pully mark

you rotate the bolt at bottom pulley till all teeth of timing match on the 4 marks

the 2 marks are on top of two cam pulleys on top

oh i forgot a pic,, this is done before we changed the water body puley unit from previous engine,, where the man's hand is the unit's bearing goes in there

here is a close up you can see two upper marks for timming on of cam pullies.

gasket work for header, later we removed the top cover and installed the prevoius top pcver on engine, this had too many scratches on it and i was in no mood to paint it.

guess who is who ..lol

ok headers in, a/c comp pully, power steering pully,, all stuff checked/cleaned

sidecover bolted. - basically if yr wondering why all this done, well i was in mood to clean/tune up . chk replace anything that looked too used.

wow! i just had another no electricity break:) while doing this post.
another day gone time for some coffee, fixed all wires,connectors, sensors

but didnt get enginechk on, and no crank..(start)
next day called in an electrician to see connectors and found out a connector wire broke during swap ..(mishandled) so we fixed it for time being later i went to peshawer and got it replaced.
engine chk light came on motorway while going to peshawer at 3 am in kalarkahar,,but car didnt stop i pushed back in wires and reached Pesh

palay's mech replaced the connector there and checked all. also replaced clutch again,, somehow i find jdm parts better than local new parts.

so i came back,, engine was fairly ok tuned up but still ( fine tuned up) was left.

and i came back , realized engine oil leaked so went to mech to chk seal, and took out engine:) cleaned up used silicon and applied High heat resistant silicon,

it was just a sump sealant leak

then i rechk tps, dist. position, and thought maybe afm is creating a problem so decided to change afm.. basically car was jerking up quick whenver throttled,, not cool for easy driving.

cleaned up injectors, rechked seals replaced 2 seals from other set of injectors. but problem was there

stone: yes why not.. i dont think any H22 owner with 2.4l engine would be interested in 1.6l category racing so we have removed the engine we used for race purpose.,, this one is detuned for less noise, while having sufficent torque for easy cruising

so next day we replaced distributor, and did all settings again

cleaned up inside dist.

here is interesting ,, i have 5mgte or ge some 6 banger's afm, i thought i try it on, and it did start the car..

stone: if yr really interested we still have that naughty engine around. but to race will be yr expense,, not mine. you can tune that to whatever level you want

a little visual comparison of afms side by side.

i kept additional set of wires, afms, injectors and other stuff for tuneup purpose.

stone, i can still access that engine and a car, if yr interested,, - waiting for yr reply:).

cost should be under 300k to get everything going all tune up car we can use charade Gtti , stock 20v vs a stock h22.
