This MK II 3.4 is a Karachi car - used to be silver -it was bought by Javaid Ibrahim for the engine and gear as he had run into a problem with an influemtial customer as he restored a highly original Jag Mk 1 for him and swapped the engine and gear with a Toyota Mk II setup. Jag engine was sold to the kabari. So this Mk II was them sold (in 1990) for 30,000 bucks to a friend of mine. It was restored a few years ago in Karachi at a workshop in Korangi and then was taken to Lahore.

I have obtained an E-Type gearbox and know someone who has an e-type engine though he is not selling. So hunt is on for a Jag engine. Ashraf mechanic told me that he had one lying with him for years and he sold it for 30,000

A couple of details aside, I think I'm not too wrong in saying that both engines shared the same casting, so swapping it in shouldn't be a problem. A proper E-type engine should give a welcome power boost too.

Unless you want to go for the delicious 2.5 V8 that is, in that respect I'm not even sure if you had any "Jaguars" that came with that engine, I think most were badged as "Daimlers".

E-type and Mk II 3.4 and 3.8 share the same engine...3.4 was honed out to 3.4 to make it 3.8 fo rthe e-type. Same engine went into the Mk II 3.8. Pls check with Imran and let me know.

I love the Daimler V8250, sadly it didn't feature in the MK II though with a manual tranny it would be great in a MkII. Daimler V8250 shared the body shell with a Mk II so it wouldn;t be a problem to swap engines.

Was the V8 250 engine in some way related to the Rover V8? Except for the obvious differences in engines size of course. I too, am hugely impressed by this engine.

no, Rover V8 was a GM/Buick origin if my memory serves me right. Daimler V8 250 was a Ted Turner (of Triumph Speed Twin fame) creation. It's tiny but super smooth V8.

Mohsin uncle..beetle for ahsan at 16? lol...i remember when i first proposed the idea to baba...he looked at me once and said no and i never drove a car till the day i had my license...i always had a chance but the fear of getting caught was far greater than the thrill of driving!! haha

nothing a big stick cant solve for teenagers though trust me been there...done that!!

It doesn't look much in the photos, but in the flesh, it sounds quite loud and angry. Especially the way the guy was driving it.
