Which profession is better: Software Engineering or Air Traffic Control?

As'salam-u-Alaikum, everyone.

I am a software engineer by profession, with around 5 years of experience. My concentration is on Oracle technologies including Oracle Database, Forms, and Reports.

Furthermore, I am also an aviation enthusiast. And recently I have got a job offer from Civil Aviation Authority as an Air Traffic Controller.

Now I am confused between staying in the software industry and switching to aviation industry.

I can't seem to make up my mind. I've already spent 5 years in one career and then there is a career I have to start from zero. Surprisingly, there isn't much financial difference. So, the deciding factor here is the long-run outcome of both careers.

Please advise.

I turned down the offer due to 10-year service bond.

Better to stay in software field it much vast than aviation field

follow your heart, you can be a part time freelance Oracle consultant while following the FULL TIME permanent job at CAA, Pakistan. If the job offer is contract term, stick to your current profession.

IMO go for ATCO !!
i'm an aviation enthusiast too n currently student of BSCS !! agr aap ki jga m hota to zra deir na lgata ATCO ki job k liye... bt that's me !!

Additional information:

It's a permanent position with CAA.

The thing is I love both: development and aviation.

But I am confused which one is better in the long-run keeping in view the following pointers:
1- Job satisfaction: how challenging it is. I find problem-solving fun to do.
2- Reward: how is one compensated. At this point in time, there's a negligible difference in both options.
3- Career opportunities in the international market: what are the prospects of working abroad. I can apply for immigration in a year's time staying in my current profession. Whereas there is a 10-year service bond with CAA

let me explain sumthing to you being an ATCO is not an easy job and u might not be very well paid ,there is work load and a mistake means lives lost although chances are less these days but it does happen.If you are married and have kids you need to take a safer approach, as we all know the conditions in our country.Having said that working in the airport is very glamorous it has a certain feel to it u feel like ur part of something big, especially when an international pilot will ask "Sir request Startup" and ur gonna reply "Sir pushback startup approved temp 39 deg charlie" wah! wah!
