Dubai: General Motors is recalling hundreds of Chevrolet Aveo cars in the UAE to fix a fault that can cause the fuel line to crack in the event of a front-end collision.
Citing local distributors, the UAE Ministry of Economy said the defect affects 1,488 units of certain 2007 model year Chevrolet Aveo sedans equipped with a 1.4-litre engine.
Al Yousuf Motors, the Dubai-based distributor of General Motors, said it is making an assessment of the number of affected cars on the roads and also those in its inventory, which may require the procedure.
"General Motors has come out with a procedure. We are going to set up a dedicated desk that customers can contact," managing director Bill Ryan said.
He added that the company is in the process of determining the exact amount of care an affected vehicle would need.
