ok, this is what i have observed:
Case#1
car: Corolla xli 04
have done 16K Km's on stock rims and Stock tyres (General). the driver has no complaints with the tyres so far and is veryyyyyy happy with them. hes an old fart and has a lot of experience with cars. no damage to suspension, excellent consumption and no handling issues. i have been with him and the ride is fine...not many ppl would agree but the guy is pretty satisfied!!
Case#2
Car: Corolla Altis
the guy actually wanted a civic but ended up in buying Altis. so this changes the whole scenario...anyways, this is what he did with his car. got the Rims n tyres replaced with Rim size 15" and tyre Size 185/65 Yoko. the car has very poor handling. it scared the shit outta me while just turning the car at 90Km/Hr at the constitution avenue (In front of National assembly round about, goin towards Radio Pak). the owner feels the same...when you turn...it feels you have turned the wheel too much...you pull the wheel back and you feel its gonna go the other way...funny isnt it?? you get the feeling that the car wants to go straight...n ya i wasnt accelerating at that time. Ride is bumpy, u feel the hardness of the tyres. In so many other words...i would say "Wrong Move".
Case#3
Car: Corolla Gli 05
The car has done 4K. the owner changed the tyres n rims to Rim size 15” and 185/70 profile. No complaints so far except for consumption. It has increased. I haven’t driven it so don’t know much about handling and road grip issues.
Case#4
Car: Corolla Gli 06
this would be my experience. the car has done 350Km's. im running it on stock tyres n Rims. so far so good i would say. ride is smooth, handling is fine...road grip...i havent tried locking the wheels yet. but i would change the tyres to Yoko 175/70. other's experiences might be different but i would not change the original specs. n ya, excellent consumption maybe cuz im not pushing it much at the moment. i intend to keep it this way! (Passion not fassion!!)
