These cars are great, very nicely built and have got quite good engines and have really good luxury appointments way ahead of their time, their fate is bad in Pakistan due to many reasons, some primary ones are
1 - a very silly local mitsubishi dealer
2 - The import of used GDI variants bought at ridiculously low prices because they were faulty.
3 - Lack of repair facilities because of complicated systems (e.g HVAC and manual shift auto) - and the full electronic automatic transmission.
The cars sold by Dewan motors were very very silly, the 2.0 version had a poor 2.0 SOHC carburettor engine - manual climate control and basic systems which they were trying to compete with the Camry and Accord - quite stupid approach
The V6 edition had a dinosaur of an engine it was the 6G something, a two valve head and sideways spark plugs (quite obsolete technology in a market that already had cars with modern engines) - It was quite amusing to even think of it.
I have put in v6 engines into the original GDI Galants, the engines were 6A12 SOHC 24V (2.5 litre) and 6A13 SOHC 24V (3.0 litre) with their respective 4 speed automatics with lockup. If originally they would have been equipped with these engines I am sure it would have given a tough time to all medium sized cars in Pakistan. But sadly its fate was bad like the Mazda brand.
