nopes, dont dunk it in straight acid - a diluted mix wont hurt, it will clean it out, OTOH, you can really flog the car on the highway to clean out the cats, I do that every now and then, Once did it so intense on a V8 mercedes that the cat converters literally were about to "glow"
Took the car for emmissions testing and it passed, the exhaust was so clean the technician thought the engine had shut off.
Moral,
clean the cats.
After a few years (8-10) they start to lose function, you can check that by measuring post cat o2 sensor data.
