KARACHI: Karachi and Lahore will have set up motorcycle parks for bringing down the cost of production of Pakistan motorcycle and for boosting investment in this sector.
Pakistan Competitive Support Fund, operative with the financial and technical assistance of US ministry of finance, has proposed this in its report released on the problems faced by motorcycle manufacturing industry and their solutions.
The report said that the motorcycle manufacturing industry was inflicted with the problems like the high cost of production, lack of quality spare parts and manpower supply. The report said that the envisaged motorcycle parks in Karachi and Lahore should have its own powerhouses besides financial assistance would have to be provided to the vendors and manufacturers for enhancing their storage capacity.
Following these measures, the targets of 1.7 million motorcycles’ annual production and its export of 0.1 million could be achieved, which would provide 0.5 million job opportunities besides it would fetch Rs20 billion sales tax and Rs5 billion revenues on other accounts.
