Over a period of time on this forum i have come across identical questions almost every year. How much, when & where to pay motor vehicle tax aka Token.
with some experience of keeping vehicles registered across different provinces following is my conclusions if some wish to benefit from it. As we all have our own mindset & priorities of work laid out ahead.
a. transfer the car immediately upon purchase in your name & in your province / district of residence.
b. Pay Motor Vehicle taxes & federal taxes in province of registration only.
c. MVR taxes paid outside province of registration are treated null & void at 1st GO, though with some legit paper mail exchange & hard copies of other province MVR offices it is valid but it requires plenty of patience & going around.
d. despite banks being online there is no ONLINE inter provincial treasury links even after 18th amendment to constitution. It clearly defines cross border deposits in Provincial Government treasuries at all NBP branches across country.
f. If your vehicles are registered outside your province of registration have an arrangement to pay taxes there you need to send original regn. book, original last payment receipt plus the amount mentioned over last tax payment receipt.(not older then 1 year) to save your money & penalty. - Do that with some reliable family member or friend living in the place using courier service for dispatch & receive.
last but not least -
amount of applicable taxes is distributed on the payment receipt column wise with Grand Total at end of receipt. Please keep last tax payment receipts intact. Incase taxes are revised so you know how much more is to be paid on next due date.
