Default Honda Vezel Petrol Average in Summer

    بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

    Asalam-o-Alikum!
How are you all? Hope you people are fine too.

I am facing some issue with my honda vezel, i don't know this is normal or not.
I am very light foot driver
my Vezel giving me 12 km/l in city Lahore with A/C - Supreme Petrol, i also tried Hi octane but no difference. but what i have noticed that, in summers its not converting to Battery means EV Mode.
while in winter it converts more.

I just wanted to know from Honda Vezel Owner about Average in Summers.

    Thanks

I have heard in international forums that hybrid have different ways to behave like in hot weather the ECU directs the engine to remain ON as the operating temperature of battery also increases. The ECU prevents battery from being over heat and getting damaged.

Mine is doing around 18 km/l. Make sure there is no obstruction in the battery vent. I usually keep the right AC vent directed towards the battery vent to keep the batteries cool.

There is something that is blocking ventilation to your hybrid battery causing it to over-heat. Therefore, it is not switching to EV mode and causing load on engine leading to poorer fuel economy. Check to see if there is a loud noise coming from the battery while the car is running. If the noise is loud, the battery is over heating causing the fan to work much faster. Plus the hot weather would also lead to poor fuel economy as the battery will overheat and the car will start to minimize battery usage to help prevent damage to the battery. Remove any things that might be blocking the battery vents. This is a common problems in hybrids during summer, especially when the temperature is over 43 degrees.

Also, do not use any other oil than recommended in the owner's manual. Using anything different will lead to poorer fuel economy.

My Civic hybrid was doing the same but then I found that there were some pages that were blocking the battery ventilation vents near the rear headrests. I removed them and my fuel economy went from 13 KPL to 16 KPL (in city with full time AC in peak rush hour traffic). The car also started to use the battery(battery assist) more frequently. I am using Total 5W30 since the last 43,000KMs and the fuel economy has never gone below 14 KPL.
The hardest part about moving forward is not looking back.

We got both Vezel and Prius both are not giving more than 13km/L since summer started, in winter it goes above 17km/L. I think its coz of weather as i have seen both hybrid cars not doing great in 35-40c weather due to full time a/c on with temp 22c.
