    Default 07 Vitz CNG

    i heard from a CNG workshop that the new vitz 05 and up models work perfectly well on CNG? is that true?

    as far as i know since its an underpowered car, it really is messed up when AC is turned on and running on CNG.

    any one with 05-07 vitz and CNG? are you guys facing the same problem or is it working ok?

    reason for asking is that the only thing stopping me from buyin the car is CNG lufra...

    A friend of mine is running a 2005 vitz but on petrol, no cng. And as for your statement tht its an underpowered car, thts totally false. Have got the pleasure of driving it a number of times, very impressive and pleasure drive it has got i must say. On highways, it touches 140 kmph mark easy with AC switched on. I 'd recommend you to go for it but run it on petrol as its fuel consumption is also very impressive.

    Vitz' model before 2005 had a 4 cyl vvti engine but this new shape one i.e. models 2005 and up have a 3 cyl non-vvti engine.

    and as for the 3 cyl engine being underpowered thingee, just compare alto (4 Cyl) and cultus (3 cyl) engines. Cultus is more powerful than an alto specially with Ac turned on. Besides the drive pleasure of the two is also uncomparable.... cultus is way better. So the point is, it doesn't make much of a difference if an engine has 3 cyl or 4 as long as the overall architecture of the engine is symmetric and gives u the outcome u want.

    @jiggerzzzz

    boy im driving vitz 05 since aug08

    its really good car as far as power is concerned change plugs with its genuine irridium plus mobil oil, air filter etc

    i asked many mechanics for CNG but they said it has fixed tappid so it cannot run on CNG for long period engine will get out of order after 15000km to 20000km

    BUT petrol average is EXCELLENT im getting 12.5 to 13km with AC in city as i travel ravi road, ravi bridge etc traffic jams extra busy traffic but still im getting this average, i must say if drive in posh areas then i can easily get more than 13km

    Dude i am sure u'll agree, all vvti engines have their heads marked with a vvti logo printed over a black head cover. Just open up this vitz's hood and see for urself, its not vvti.

    my firnd got an 06 vitz. its working fine on CNG, but as far as the power is concerned, yes it does lack a lil as compared to the previous shape one. have drive it on petrol as well, that too a lot, but it doesnt have that feel of the power, plus the engine sound is pretty horrible when it touches the high revs. my advice is not to go for the car. look for a nice 2004 model and get it CNGed, u wud have no problems of power and the drive too

    by sound i dont mean the rattling sound. its the engine sound. which has been discussed here on PW many times as well. do a lil search and u wud find it. its like a heavy bbbbrrrrrrrrhhhh sound when u press the accelerator. and the acceleration is really disappointing
