    Default VITZ 2006 Pick

    Dear Brothers,

I have a vitz 2006 model (January 2009 import) car. The pick of the car is not good and it has started knocking, between 30 - 70 km/hr speed. I changed oil, oil filter, air filter, cleaned the spark plugs but the problem was not solved. I took the car to TOYOTA capital and they suggested to remove the catalytic convertor which I did, but, the knocking increased and pick problem is still there. However, TOYOTA capital sayed that this is due to poor petrol (I do use petrol from SHELL) and suggested to empty the tank and put 10-15 liter of High Octane Petrol and the problems will be solved. I request you all to guide me to overcome these problems and suggest some good workshop in Rawalpindi / Islamabad. Furthermore, tell me whether computerized tuning is worthy, especially in solving these problems, if yes, suggest a good place to get the said service.

    Thanking you all in anticipation.

    Ashraf

are you using the correct plugs? are they gapped correctly? has the transmission fluid been changed? have you had the fuel pump checked? have you had the rear fuel filter checked (if this model has one)? what size tyres are you running? has the air flow sensor been checked & cleaned?

I have not replaced the plugs, as ther were clean.

Fuel pump has not been checked.

About rear filter I have no idea and no mechanic has checked it yet.

    Tyres are 75 / R-13.

    Air sensor has been cleaned.

Transimission fluid is the same when I purchased the car, however, mechanics says that it is ok.

    hi

    simply:

    1. plug the car key and put on ignition but do not start

    2. remove the -ve batery terminal

    3. leave it off for an hr

    4. plug it back in.

check if this resolves your problem

this Vitz alot differnt then the 99-05 Vitzes!!

the car has 3 Cylinders 1000cc, Auto tranny ( that makes sense for a low pick up, if any body has driven a 1.2L City.(03-09) its more pathetic aftr driving a 1.3L Baleno or a Rolla.

second thing this Vitz has recomended Iridium plugs,IKH
sum thing is the code, ull have to check it wid some one or internet is the best source, nd mind you one plug costs about Rs.1100 (in karachi) but they can last upto 100,000kms. so value for money.

your pick can heavily be improved jst by changing the plugs and a new air filter,

PS: u mentiioned tires 75-13?? the stock size i thing is 165/80/r14 please correct me if im wrong but the rim size is definetly 14''

@hsumbal, the hi-0ctance ratio in a car shud be 1:3 or 10 liters hi-octance nd the other 25 or 20 L super. ( dat fixed my cars knocking issue)

@poster, Join the Vitz owners Clud on Pakwheels, all queries are there.
Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

well this car DOES knock...to reduce the knocking i always mix about 25% of hi octane in every fill up..
and i guess knocking is due to the 3 CYLINDERS.
dont expect alot of pick from this car please.

what does 3 cylinder have to do with knocking?? there are a million 3 cylinder petrol vehicles and they do not knock.

    hehe...nothing personal my friend

well I have seen 4 cylinder cars also knock. so yeah, both a 3 cylinder and a 4 cylinder can give knocking if something is not working properly.

but there is no correlation between the number of cylinders and the amount of knocking one has in his or her car.

So far the only solution I have found is to increase the Hi-octane level to more than 50% and get it from a good pump, I get it from the company operated PSO's.
