    Default Vitz - Is it worth it?

    Hi,

    This might be a very strange post becuase I am pointing to some issues in the most popular car of the time being - Vitz. Yes I have some concern,if somebody please reply:

    1. Is worth the price... i.e. Rs. 600,000 to 800,000 for a used (not a reconditioned) car?
    2. If somebody buys it, isn't it de-valuating very fast? For example when I was thinking about it, it was Rs. 750,000 to 850,000 for a decent one. Thank God I couldn't afford it at that time. If I had bought it, it would be of Rs. 650,000 in just 4 months... What a drop in your invest (or whatever you say).
    3. Look at the shape? Does it look a car from any angle?

    I know that I'm hurting many people, but thing about people who have bought it in Rs. 800,000+ and now the worth is Rs. 600,000-

    Yes. You are right. The next problem to be faced by the owners will be non-availablity of spares, as happened with Peugot and Subaru.For instance from where the bumpers or head and back lights to be bought in case of need?

    Buying a used car not officially supported in the local market is a risky proposition. Why not get a new, locally supported car for a similar price? They have spare parts and official dealers that can support you. Even though Vitz has more features, buying a used car can't be compared to a brand new car.

    I think this is more of a 'price correction' to keep the demand high, and give more competition to locally assembled cars. Otherwise there is nothing wrong with buying Vitz. It's a great little supermini. Underpowered because of 1.0L engine, but you will love it...
    Just have the car thoroughly inspected by an experienced mechanic before buying (especially the timing belt).

    A JDM Vitz, though three year old would be worth under six lakhs. I have seen an two-page ad by Toyota Indus a couple of months ago in which Vitz and Plats along with Eco are featured which means support available. I think it is a better option than local assembled vehicles when it comes to quality. If I had to buy a second car it most likey would be a Vitz

    @autophile:
    You said you would love to buy Vitz if you had to buy a second hand car... Would you prefer Vitz even if you had to buy a BRAND NEW CAR?

    HI dear I did not say second hand but a second car and these used Vitz I have seen mostly are as good as new. I have been to Japan and I tell you in two three years nothing happens to a car because of high standard of roads, fuels, parts and elaborate care and maintenace in Japan. I never polished my shoes in a month despite walking often walking in rain, just imagine how clean it is there and these Vitz I am sure have not been used for intercity drive on freeways, because there people mostly drive cars with bigger engines on motorways and freeways. So Vitz is mostly used for in-town small distance travelling, that's why many cars that we are having from Japan are are as good as new.

    Autophiles rite....
    n yea all the spare parts of vitz n platz r available at Toyota Overseas motors!!!!! n the price depends on the model n the grading of ur car.....
    a 4.5 grade car was n still worth 7.5lacs n a normal 3.0 grade 99 model or even 2000 u can get for 5.75Lacs ull get it even cheaper if u import it urself....! i bought mine which was 4.0 grade for 7lacs and had done 22K...it still makes u feel as if ur driving a brand new car, drive a cultus with 22K on the meter bet it wont give u the same feelin....

    Although Vitz is coming with much improved quality and added features, but easy and cheap availability of spare parts is still an issue in most cases. Also there is no comparision between Vitz and Cultus except cultus is brand new and thats about it ..

    @ikhanr
    prices depend on condition/option and color.
    not all vitz are of 6 lacs. Drive one and it proves its worth. It will be a trouble free car for the next 5 years for anyone i am sure. Its not localled assembled like honda or corolla (you can see water in head lights after 2 weeks of delivery). choice is yours i guess what suits you and your mentality
    Life is short and very unpredictable just like a Quarter mile .....

    Hi all,
    Vitz is sure v good … but spare parts are really a problem. Not avlb in open market, Toyota showroom ask a very high price. Secondly, if there is a problem in electronic controls (which can be frequent due to dusty environment of our country) … no dam road mechanic can handle it… more over, its too low for Karachi roads ..

    One more thing … road conditions at Karachi are worst … so I bought a corolla 86 worth 350K (with CNG) and spend 40 K more money on A/C, tiers and jumps … and it was really worth. Very strong car, balanced drive with road grip, very good acceleration and …. Can drive in any road / off road condition without fear.
    I think I am gona keep it at least for next 5 years.
