There are a few things which I needed to know on an urgent basis if somebody could help me out
1) the brake pedal of vitz goes right down to the floor. Upon inspecting the front brake pads and rear brake shoes they were completely worn out. Also when I took it to a mechanic he told me that my front discs as well as rear hubs need to be changed. We will first change that and if you don’t feel a difference then maybe your brake cylinder isn’t working properly. So what to do?.The cost of changing the front discs with bearings and rear hubs with bearings is 7500.I contacted faisal and amir who are mentioned extensively in the vitz owners clubs section for Karachi members
Sir 7,500 Rs seems to be reasonable, get a 100K km check done by Honda South, or Honda 2s Pit shop Saqib Autos they will not charge much for the check up.
Saqib Autos 9/423 Darakshan Society, Kala Board, Malir, Karachi. (021) 4401465, 0345-3382068 (021) 4501236
I do not think that the brake cylinder will be at fault, it is very durable.
2)The second thing to know is that I changed its engine oil at 3000kms.Oil which is used is either Caltex havoline 10w-30 or Castrol magnetic 10w-40.air filter has been changed with oil filter too. I have changed its sparks plugs as well. The main problem Is that the car has got good acceleration but sometime sit just sticks to a spped and doesn’t go forward neither the rpm goes up(indications of faulty transmission) neither the car jerks. It just remains constant. The mechanic told me that your oil for automatic transmission has worn out. You need to change it and there is AN OIL FILTER FOR TRANSMISSION you will need to change it too. Automatic transmission opening for a oil filter change is a risky business. Should I go for it or just change the oil and after 6 months gain change it so that my whole system is flushed because there might be some oil left in the torque convertor. I showed it to a number of mechanics and they told me that car wasn’t accelerating because of oil being losing its viscosity
Get the oil changed with the filter, get the work done by a qualified mechanic or Honda 3s, or toyota 3s dealer I have seem them changing oil of Camry and CL7 Accords, there should not be any problem.
Get a good quality synthetic ATF like Mobil 1, according to the dexron specs of your owner manual.
3) my vitz is 1000cc with VVt-I technology. I have got a set of alloys. Currently my size is 155/70 r 13.If I change it to 185/65 r 14 then wont it affect my suspension. Secondly what will be the fuel consumption be. I need one answer since there are a number of forums which have discussed this topic but at the end of the day you are left with contradictory remarks. Some say it will not affect anything others will say it will?.
4) My mechanic who was a trusted one has gone bizzerk. He is currently in the process of opening a shop so his resources are limited and he is not caring for those who were his loyal customers for the past 10-15 years or those who have sighted his shop just a few days back and come to him. He is charging exuberant prices to an extent that faisal and amir quoted 7500 while on the phone but this chap because wanted to gain capital is telling me 12000.I took his test to which he failed miserably and now I know who is making a fool out of whom. So guys NEED A MECHANIC WHO KNOWS TOYOTA VITZ IN AND OUT.(Karachi only).
If you can provide me with the petrol I will gladly come to any other city. Lol(just kidding.
195/50 R14 is the best size, 185/50 R14 is also good, 185/65 R14 is too big, not recommended, also keep in mind that tire product is more important then tire size.
Get some good quality, Michelin Primacy, Continental Premium, Yokohama V550 or Kumho KH11.
