    Default Need help regarding Thermostate

    Dear Brothers,
I have Vitz 2007, my question is,,
When ever we switch on our car ac, we keep thermostate on Max. coool.on blue.and when heater on or we want hot air we keep our knob on red.
My question is, when my AC on and i want less cooloing and keep the knob on a little hoter side, what will b the effect on ac compressor, will it trip or not?
Can i save fuel by keeping knob on a little less cool side or i should on/off ac button time by time..
    Plz tell me..

The last words makes some sense. Fuel can be saved by switching it off time by time.

If u turned the knob little towards the red side while the AC is on, it will put some extra load on the compressor coz then it will require much extra time to cool the car before the thermostat reach at a point where it needs to cut off the compressor. In short the compressor will engage for much longer time, means extra fuel consumption.

If you dont set the fan on max ... i.e. put it on 2 or 3 ... the A/C will keep tripping *juts like in home a/cs* ... that should help a bit in fuel average. Only a bit.

That discussion makes no sense at all. Why would the AC run longer because you reduced the cooling setting? In my car when I reduce the coolness level my ac compressor disengages sooner and also re-engages after a longer duration. It's not like putting it to a lesser cool setting is going to open the hotwater hoses and turn on the heater.

Interestingly I saw a thing on BBC which demonstrated that it's better to drive with all windows open below 40 kph than turning on the AC (i.e. turn on AC only if you are driving faster than 40 kph). Although, the dust and smog would be something to put up with.

when you slide the cool/heat knob - a door also redirects air away from the ac evaporator - dont assume its an open design like you would make yourself.

by sliding the knob the air wont be rushing in the fins of the evaporator and it would be at freezing temperature tripping the compressor and saving fuel

the "red" relates to the heater n "blue" refers to a/c. the heater has NO connection at all with the a/c compressor n it will b stupid to slide or to rotate the dial to red incase you need less cooling. the compressor will continue to operate n for no reason at all consuming precious fuel n putting load to engine.. if u need less cooling, just slide down the fan speed to a lower setting or turn the a/c off momentarily. furthur to save fuel, just drive below 2500 rpm. n if u hav an auto which most vitz in Pak are, turning off a/c every now n than might help.

Default Themostat & Wind Direction Knobs

In my Vitz 2007, the thermostat knob couldn't go to red and also the wind direction knob not moves more than two settings, can any one give some valuable inputs?
