    Default Vitz 2001 Questions?

    Hello All,

I am a bit new here so please allow me tha audacity to do as much mistakes as possible . Ok i got my Vitz 2001 and this is my first car so ofcourse im not very good at anything. it was all fine for 2 months and i never touched 100 but one day jawani ke josh mein i touched 110 and suddenly the engline light came on. I thought it maybe a fuel problem as i had gotten my tank filled after it was near empty. I turned the car off and when i turned it back on it was gone. but after every 20 Km or so the light turns on again. I am really worried. I tried getting High octane injected in my tank to improve fuel quality but it was the same .. 20 km or so and the light comes on.

Please tell me what the problem could be. I dont have CNG. is it the MAF sensor or can it be something big. I am in Islamabad where should i take my car to and be sure that the problem will be figured out.

Thanks a lot for any help

No need to worry about the engine light. it appears in all those vitzes n platzes which have their catalytic converter removed.

Thanks for the reply Retaliator .. but it never came on for the last 2 months. now its coming on after every 20 Km. I didnt remove the Cat Converter myself. if it is removed it must have been taken off by the last owner. i mean till i had not touched that 110 it never came on no matter how long i drove it for. what could be the case ???

Sorry bross, u need to describe that if any light is coming , then whats the indication, one desi jugar= take ur car to any good electriction and tell him to remove the fuses which have connection with that light, in that way u can trace the root of ur light ,
and repeat step again and again( i mean remove 1 fuse chek, then fix it , now 2 fuse and chk, step by step)
At the end check the manual of ur car.( last solution )

Simplest way to diagnose the CEL would be to goto a toyota stealership, they'll charge about 600 rupees and check it for you. Stay close to them, ask them to let you see whats on the screen and after you're done - report back here.

I had same experience with my father's platz which we r running on petrol. after removing the CC nothing happend for quite some time. then all of a sudden it started turning on after a highway trip. been to toyota several times and the problem has not been solved. so i am guessing that u r experiencing the same thing.

the reason is simple. after the removal of CC the sensor on the exhaust gives abnormal signal due to change in pressure n flow conditions.

well there can be any other reason. u shud get ur car checked by the hand held tester from toyota.

Man these japanese cars .. i havent seen any change in engine performance or anything else. Just very worried i dont want to end up with something big with the engine. Will get the MAF sensor, throttle body and stuff cleaned. lets see, also will get the Cat converter checked if it is there or not, cause the person from whom i bought was an old guy he didnt know much himself. Whatever his son wanted to do with it he did and now hes abroad

try resetting the ECU by taking off the battery terminals for about a couple of minutes, it might work.

wouldnt that work if it was constant. because it comes only after 20 km of drive. and it started appearing after my first 110 ... could it be the MAF sensor
